New Royce White Tweet

After reading his tweets and the comments on his facebook, the term student-athlete has never meant less.:(

that is what you would call street language and it is very common on sites like facebook and twitter. i highly doubt this is how he writes and or talks when he is in class, etc.

Probably nothing b-ball related, he just uppin his hits as he makes another silly video, probably like some of his older ones. Now the audience just grows lol.

That's entirely possible, but he should know that now is not the time for him to be calling unneeded attention to himself. I would hope a coach or family member would have strongly advised him of this as soon as this started blowing up. Since there have been new facebook posting and tweets even since the Star Tribune reported this, that either hasn't happened (which would lead me to believe the coaches no longer care), or he's not listening.

On the 6:00 news they reported that Royce's lawyer tried to call him numerous times but could not get in contact with him (maybe not the exact quote but you get the gist). Anyway, I would imagine that regardless if he will be on the team or not, Tubby still cares and would prefer for him to not jeopardize his chances of a future in basketball by doing something stupid on youtube- but if he's not answering calls or returning messages, coaches, lawyers, grandpa's etc. can only do so much. His "friends" on facebook are sure egging him on and, unfortunately, at his age he's probably more influenced by peers than adults.

It seems to me that the young man may have some rather serious psychological issues to fix.

This kid has had some very successful male role models trying to steer him in the right direction (outside his family) which a large majority of his peers never get. He keeps screwing it up. It's not like he hasn't had his chances. I get the feeling this isn't going to end well, for the Gophers or Royce.

I seriously doubt he's going to announce he's back. The U and Tubby would never allow him to do that in this way. If that's what it was, it would have been squelched after the first Tweet. It's clearly one of the many other possibilities, none of which are good. Best case scenario is that this is all just a joke. Even then, it doesn't help on top of everything else that's happened to him.

Glory, for all we know he's announcing his new attitude and committment to go along with a public apology for whatever he's done wrong.

Until the whole situation reveals itself as half empty, I'm looking at it as half full.

I like your optimism Reserve. Hope your right.

Guys, I think you're looking way to deep into this, and I'm sure Royce is getting a rise out of the whole media circus.

If he was back on the team, or if there was a change in status it would come from Matt Slieter, or Tubby.

In my opinion, there is NO WAY this is basketball related in anyway shape or form. If it was, I think he'd be off the team in a heartbeat. He may say something about himself or his character, but not his status. He's got a whole group of kids that follow him, and have a bunch of inside jokes, I'm guessing this is about that. It's probably something silly that his group of friends find funny, but most of us old folks won't even get it, haha.

I think this is most likely being blown out of proportion here. Let's see what he does before we judge him.

Problem is that it's on the front page online of both papers. Another distraction for a team possibly heading to the NIT. If he had some humility, other than going to class and waiting for Coach Smith's phone call, he'd be behaving like he's in the witness protection program.

This is not good news. My guess is that "I'm back" means back on twitter not back on the U of M basketball team. If so, this'll turn Tubby's brown eyes blue. RW is going to announce that he's out of school and starting next Monday he will be playing power forward for the Helsinki, Midnight Sun Ice Fishermen.

I find it absolutely amazing that this is news already in the papers and on the 6:00 news? Really?

It could spoof and then they'll act like Royce is the worst person in the world because they are duped into following an 18 year old kid. C'mon, at least wait until it's posted before it's news don't you think? For goodness sake, is this kid really that big of news here?

It's midnight, where's the video? Quashed by those in charge I hope.

The time is now 12:04 am...the time in which the Royce White video was supposed to emerge has come...and gone...

well...that was a waste of energy

can't decide if im pissed or happy. Either way I think we can all agree we REALLY need to get a life lol. Hope someone talked some sense into him.

On the positive side, I am now following the whole basketball team on twitter. Cool, right?....

Kids a marketing genius. How many people have made two major newspapers with one twitter message. Brilliant. People pay big bucks for this kind of free press, and he did it in so few words.

Honestly - I'd expect GH to go nuts over all of this, and try to find out information...but I was kind of shocked that the papers and TV picked it up...he made 2 Tweets, and 3 Facebook status updates, and it's all over the airwaves. I wish I was that popular, lol!

Just watched the video...nothing worth all the hype...

Highlights of "Royce White Documentary preview"
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7DPnxp-5y9c

He can tie his shoes
He's working out the whole time, hitting jumpers, dunking, and making free throws
He can bench 225 like it's his job, that's a plus

Overall, nothing close to what you people were talking about on here, it was really conservative and just a video of him playing ball...

Honestly. Can they get this kid in uniform and back on the team already?
