So we got Kemp through Miles (NDSU) through Thorson (w/ Miles at CO St).

Would love to know what the possible connection is to JMcN and why he wants to leave the top asst job at TA&M for the top asst job at Minnesota.

Looks like they kept below their old white guy quota. It does make you wonder if that is legit and why Conroy and Robbins are gone, since both Conroy and Robbins had voiced things that made you think they were in and then suddenly they weren't.
Just STFU! We get a hint of what assistants might be and this is the only take you can make on it! Everyone else is interested on there background, what they bring to the programs, etc... And you throw in some stupid race count!

This is a very long interview, but it has some good points about recruiting, what he looks for in a player. Some Jimmy Butler stories and what it took for him to play college ball in the US... Sound like a very good coach.

I'd prefer Conroy, Coach Mo or someone similar over the W&M guy, nothing against him.
Why? Ben probably could have kept Conroy and chose another route. He wasn’t successful as a head coach, and has done nothing notable as an asst here. All that’s important is that Ben get a team he can work with, and sees working well together. The whole previous head coaching experience for one of the assistants is so overrated. If they were a great head coach who should be a mentor, they would probably still be coaching unless they have stepped away from that at this stage of their career - very, very few of those.

Disagree on the highlighted point. We've had two inexperienced guys in here (Monson and Pitino) who both messed up by not getting a former head coach in right away. It looks like Ben has put together a good staff on paper at least with a nice balance between experience, up and comer, local and regional ties. I'm most interested in finding out if he has some history with the McNeilly.

They get the benefit of the doubt.
