Nebraska is back...

As it relates to National Titles, Nebraska is in the Minnesota Gophers year of 1987.
Also, using these dates, Nebraska hired a QB from one of their last championship teams to be their head coach in 1981 (fired in 1985). We actually hired ours (Joe Salem) in 1979 (fired in 1983).

Great Plains Gopher is as delusional as their fanbase! 🤣
The Nebs are doing okay with a second year coach and should beat Wisconsin to finally break the bowl drought. But the Nebraska lesson is that you can't keep cycling coaches. The folly started by firing a coach with a 9-3 season and an overall record at the school of 58-19: Frank Solich who had been with Nebraska forever, going back to playing days. They also fired Bo Pelini, who had three 10-4 seasons and an overall of 67-27. Gophers wouldn't do that.

They need to beat Sconnie because they won't go into Iowa City and beat Iowa.

I'll actually be rooting for Wisconsin (very sorry) next week. Don't want them needing a victory over us to get bowl eligible.

I’m of the opposite opinion - go, Huskers!

It’s not just that I can’t ever cheer for the skunks, but what a great opportunity it would be to take home the Axe and end their season at the same time… in Madison!

What's the difference between a blue blood and a helmet school? Penn State isn't considered a blue blood?

MN lost 40 from 1961 to 1970. About a 60% win
Nebraska is about 43% over the last 10 years.

MN lost 58 from 1971 to 1980. That's 47%

Temple and Baylor had great improvements in year 3 with Matt Rhule as their head coach.

I really wonder if just making it to a bowl game this year and/or next year will be enough to make his seat not hot.

I have to think there is zero heat this year but missing a bowl game in year 3 would be the end.

I’m glad to see them bowl eligible, always had a good time meeting Nebraska fans.

Nebraska is bowling because they played UTEP (2-9), N Iowa (3-9) and Purdue (1-10), so half their wins from teams that would have to pool all their wins to get to 6, and a very very down Wisky team. Kudos though for the Colorado win and Rutgers is actually OK this year. They won the games they needed to which is more than they’ve done the pest 8 years.

We seasoned fans of bowl games welcome the upstart Nebraska team to bowl season, must seem like what years since you have been able to partake……..oh wait, never mind.

And next years first AP poll will have the Huskers at #15.
I like how they get projected top 25 every year but no one puts their players on the preseason (or post) all conference teams. Like how are they projecting these wins when it’s well known they lack talent.
