NCAA hounds to descend on Brewster?

I live in Pasadena...does that give me credibility if I start making stuff up and telling you guys back in MN about it?

Why is the word close in quotes? Does this imply that your friend is NOT close to the SoCal program?

Ha! Owned. That's a grammar rules violation!

I'm not sure how the cardboard cutout works as far as being a minor recruiting violation, but the jersey is not.

My question is how, if SH had taken all of his "official" visits under what circumstances could he then visit the U of M? My understanding is that as long as the sports dept didn't spend any money on him it is OK. I'm not sure a dozen pizzas qualifies as nothing. Of course, if the football coaches were holding a recruiting roundup staff meeting and had ordered pizza for the staff... Well, they could hardly prevent Seantrel from eating a slice or two could they?

What kind of hounds does the NCAA have?

Having seen Lame Kiffin in action for the past year, yes he's capable of having someone come on here and shovel this crap and yes, he's as scummy as he seems.

Kiffin won't last 3 years at good 'ol SC. He'll piss somebody in one of the LA "Hoods" off, and someone will put a cap in his A$$!

Worst case scenerio is that they would receive a secondary violation for the cut. USC hired Lane Kiffin who had double the amount of secondary violations as victories in one year at Tennessee. That has to be a record. That is the pot calling the kettle black.

JUST got a call from a buddy who is 'close' to the Gopher football program, currently living in Madagascar. He swears Seantrel was 'blown away' by the cardboard cutouts and will commit mainly because of them.

What kind of hounds does the NCAA have?

The kind that like to set up shop and stick around for a while.;)

You remember just after Lou Holtz left? Or how about the end of the Clem Haskins regime?
The NCAA hounds kept the dark cloud over Dinkytown for an extended length of time on both occasions.

Obviously, there is a difference between major violations (Luther Darville, Jan Ganglehoff, et al.) and secondary/minor violations...though I'm not casting aspersions on what did/did not go on during Sunday nite at TCF.

But most folks who were around in the '80's and '90's would prefer the NCAA keep their hounds in places like L.A.

If Brewster got a secondary violation during his visit with this guy. And he commits to the U of MN......it is probably worth the less-than slap on the wrist they would receive.

I clicked on this thread, and now I want to shoot myself. Thanks Gopherhole!

They just moved up here from Arkansas, and then on to South Bend, and then on to South Carolina. Just following that carpet bagging, cheating P.O.S. around the country, sprinkling universities with magic probation dust.

What a guy.

Actually, the NCAA hounds stayed in Dinkytown just long enough to ruin Gutey's era...and dare I say, Wacker's era, too.

Just got a call earlier this afternoon from a buddy in L.A., who is 'close' to the Southern Cal program.

He confirmed the NCAA is going to drop a hammer on the Trojan program later this month...he is just hoping it isn't THEE hammer.;)

He also mentioned the word in L.A. is Seantrel has eliminated the Gophers, as it is being suggested multiple NCAA violations may have occurred on Sunday night, whilst the Hendersons were at TCF.

Oh, he also said that Seantrel will be a Trojan. I replied that I wouldn't be quite so certain, but he said he was as certain as certain could be.

Does anyone know if violations occurred at TCF on Sunday night?

Sorry if this has been posted elsewhere, but I didn't see anything on a quick check

Maybe my L.A. buddy was on to something a few months ago?

Hats off to you, sir. As a die-hard Gopher fan, I'm starting to hate my 2007 Brewster-apologist self for putting up with his nonsense. My gut tells me that he's a complete joke. Although this will not be a big deal for Brew, it's still disappointing and kind of embarrassing for the program.

There will be no formal punishment or reprisal from the NCAA, but you are absolutely right that the last thing the program needs is more crappy press like this. Unless he wins convincingly this season Brew is done.

secondary violation...yawn...

I heard about this on campus a while ago, thought it was old news.

The NCAA punishment will be that you dopes give up your season tickets. Thanks!

Puhhhleeeease. Secondary violations are commonplace these days. Virginia just had one less than a month ago. South Carolina reported 14 of them a year ago. Two years back, Clemson had something like 7 or 8. Ohio State racked up 4 between the 2007 and 2008 seasons.

Couldn't agree more. Standing on its own, this is nothing. But when you pile on all the other crap that has gone on with the program, it just looks bad. Winning cures all, but this just inches Brewster closer to the unemployment line.

You mean piled on top of other crap like the best APR in school history, the return of 3 scholly's due to that APR, the 100%, 90%, and 100% grad rates for seniors in the last 3 years?

If you look objectively at the fact that they self-reported ONE violation you begin to realize that this isn't a big deal. Also keep in mind that you can get a secondary violation for smiling at a recruit on the 3rd Thursday of the month if the temperature is above 75 degrees...tons of tiny, silly, things are secondary violations. If the U starts self reporting many secondary violations in a row (a la Kiffin) and its clear Brew is breaking the small rules b/c there are no punishments (again, a la Kiffin) then we'll all have something to be cranky about.

So there was a cardboard cutout of Seantrel. Wow. That is such a travesty. We should get the death penalty.

Hey, Brewster's done some good things. I'm happy with him and want him to remain the coach. You and I both know that this program doesn't need any bad press right now. I know that these "violations" are basically nothing, but the media turds in this town who have made the Gopher football program their punching bag will take any opportunity they can to rip the program. You have to dig to learn about good things like graduation rates, those never get reported, which is a crying shame.

Most people I know treat secondary violations like Allen Iverson treats practice.
