+1,000 for Nate Mason, Sr.

Very impressed with him - he could be downplaying this, but isn't. He said what we're all thinking...

"Why would you let someone film you with their phone?" Mason Sr. said.

He was busy with other matters. That, and he never would have thought his friend was that stupid. Guessing Nate and Dupree are pissed at that dip****.

Not sure how this will all play out, but if I had to guess I'd say Mason and McBrayer return while Dorsey leaves. There may be some animosity.

Wow if it turns out to be true that Dorsey posted all the links my guess is the same. Mason and McBrayer will be back. Dorsey will be gone and Pitino looks to pick up another player. How could anyone be that foolish to post that stuff?

Let's hope that Mason Sr. believes in making amends for your mistakes by honoring your commitments,

Mason and McBrayer have to be mad as hell with Dorsey.

Why were players suspended for having sex consensual sex?

Are we suspending players for the type of sex (group, video, gay, straight)?

The person who posted the video should be the only one suspended.

Can we keep this thread about Mr Mason given we already have 3 threads with prognostication around who did what why and where and whether or not it should not could not would not be illegal legal or regal?

If they knew they were being recorded, then I am ok with the suspensions. Even though they weren't the ones who made it public, they're still putting themselves in a position for failure.

You don't think a discussion as to why his son was suspended is about him?

Kids and their mistakes. Those of us who are parents sit back and reflect about this whole situation. I'm glad Mason Sr. spoke up and let us all know that he is concerned about the mistake. And that he wants him to learn from it. We live in a pretty unforgiving society, which leads to an opposite reaction of over-allowance. We want our kids to learn from mistakes - not be destroyed by them.

I disagree. I think our society is very forgiving. But only with contrition. Mason's dad not lawyering up and and making no excuses is a pretty good first step, as evidenced by the reaction to it in this forum. Long way to go and lots of storms to weather, is my guess.

Probably more to do with the aftermath/ cover up by the players. Nate Sr referred to the non-believable story from his son

The players made a mistake. Not the act itself unless it was not consensual and that so far does not appear to be the case. Posting the video was the mistake. Regardless which player posted the video I see no problem with holding all three accountable.

I'm with ya', but one of their church going mama's might not agree.

No. The act itself was also deplorable. Cmon- how far have we fallen? That said- I think forgiveness is available. These kids can learn.

what male college freshman would say no to the opportunity for group sex? Taping it is what is the problem, not tapping the coed.

Posting a sex video without the knowledge of a person makes that a person a victim.

If a player posted a video having sex with a female athlete without her knowledge, I guarantee she wouldn't be suspended.

The only thing wrong with group sex is having other males participate.

All women and me is good[emoji14]

And a video would be great to have....and refer to later[emoji14][emoji14][emoji14]

Nah, some us actually hate contrition - thats why Trump is so popular.

No you make a good point. Honestly, I think how we deal with stuff like this is very complicated. We do like to figure out who is to blame, which could get ugly.

Grace and mercy is both complicated and simple at the same time. Offered forgiveness is usually contingent on whether we actually like the person sans transgression or not. Received forgiveness depends on whether the transgressor believes anything wrong was done. My guess is that most die-hard Gopher fans are willing to forgive the current transgressions with some evidence of remorse and contrition. Casual observers and opposing fans not so much. For quite some time, we'll be known as the pornographic twitter team and there is no escaping it. If lawyers get involved, we'll be in a blame game for a few years and forgiveness won't matter because "someone has to pay."

If the redemption path is going to fit here, there needs to be some public contrition pretty fast. I fear lawyers could get in the way of that.

Serious question? What are the transgressions? I only see one; posting the video online.

The person who posted the video is the only person who needs have public contrition, the rest is private business of consenting adults.

Maybe it should be, but it's not. Like it or not, there are about 170 million reasons it's on the minds of lots of folks who matter. And they even matter to you, I bet. (I'm guessing you won't be filling the gap.) I don't want to invest in a band of out-of-control idiots. Those kids showed little to no good judgment. "Hey, let's film each other banging the same chick at the same time!!!" "AWESOME idea!!" "Wheeeeeeeeeeeeee!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!"

The bolded is your opinion, and may mesh will with the legal system's view (depending on the exact circumstances), but is likely very different than the view of many from a morality perspective. That matters, maybe not for the suspension directly, but when we start discussing concepts like contrition and goals such as fundraising it absolutely makes a difference.

And what you just said is your opinion.

Why should someone be forced to live their life according to your opinion or view on morality? Who are you?

Question? Should someone who is gay show contrition for having gay sex?

The act of having consensual sex IMO is nobodies business. The fact a video of it was posted is the schools (and U supporters) business.

As a result the person who posted it and anyone else in the video or not who conspired to have it posted; they should be held accountable. That act itself including video taping (either side of the camera) is nobodies (including the U) business.

But we still get to make fun of them and form opinions either way.[emoji41]

Can't disagree it's worthy of conversation, judging or even forming opinions. My point is it punishment worthy?

I don't believe it is ok to punish someone for the type of legal sex they have. Only the act of making it public IMO is punishment worthy and only the person/s who made it public should be punished.
