I guess my feelings are this: If he is satisfied with USF instead of coming to the U of M, then he is not as good as we want and need up here.
 


Well, he can stay home and is happy...Best wishes to him and may the Gophers find better to replace him.

At the end of the day, I really think we need someone who has lots of game experience to make the move. This would be Wells, Thompson, or Vereen. There's no way we start next year with Shabazz, Balthazzar, Boddy, and Murray as our top 4 corners, we just wouldn't have enough experience with that group.

If Montgomery was going to play, it should have been this year.

I'm sure we will find another player to replace him. Best of luck to him at USF.
 

Oh well, I thought he looked a touch slow personally. Any safety brought in would probably redshirt I would imagine.

I don't think that's necessarily the case. People physically and mentally mature along different timelines. I'm not saying that it's a given that Montgomery will be a big producer next year, but I wouldn't right him off because he didn't contribute much to our defense this year, a defensive backfield that featured 2 Srs, 2 Jrs, and a 2 time returning starter at S.

All in all, I think JG is right on the money. I believe either Thompson or Wells makes the move and most likely that player will be Wells. The FR S's looked good last year, Thompson and Vereen looked solid and I think Wells is a better fit at boundary corner than at S.
