Ha, I graduated from the U in '07. I live near campus and read the daily or check out his and Marcus's articles online. I've given up on Myron and the only place I see his stuff is on here, which is way to often. BleedGopher seems to post a lot of Myron, some Marcus and others, but never Josh. So I decided to be the 'BleedGopher' for Josh's work and give people an alternative.
 

Myron must have a very long dong...cuz he steps on it all the time.

I used to give Myron a pass because chats and blogs are not really journalism but now I just feel bad for him being stupid enough to keep answering questions like these and the ones about which students are going pro this year. Myron is an idiot and a hack and is doing no good for the U.
 

Well, if we're going to start canning incompetent boobs over at the Strib, Myron's going to have to get in line behind Neal Justin. That Justin has any kind of job doing anything is a crime against society.

Fact--- Tubby has not signed an extension,
Fact:---there is Little or no progress on a practice facility,
Fact----he cannot keep kids in school---
fact---- he cannot win under this environment

Tubby has been moderately successful in spite of the Administration, Joel Maturi and this pathetic Athletic program.

Maybe if he leaves the rest of you will finally wake up? I doubt it because you are so used to losing it becomes comfortable.
 

It isn't about Tubby leaving, it is about Tubby leaving for the NBA.

I could see Tubby calling it a career after all the nonsense of the last two years but in no way will he coach a should be contracted NBA team

Not too many coaches leave when they are 60.

That said, OT: Maturi got a LOT of booes at halftime of the OSU game, thought you'd appreciate that.
 

I agree with the general sentiment that Tubby's style is not a good fit in any way for the NBA.

But, NBA coaches make $4-6 million+ per year. That could be enough for a 60-year old man to sign a five-year deal worth $25 million and finish out a career. I wouldn't be so dismissive of a jump to the NBA, particularly with Michael Jordan calling the shots at Charlotte with a current job opening. If MJ chooses to offer Tubby a $25 million guaranteed contract, do people really think he'd turn it down??

Moreon's next headline: I think, if Mav and Dawson finish the season out averging 30+ppg they will get serious looks from NBA scouts.

And another rip on Hoffarber? C'mon Moreon the college game and NBA potential are two very different things.

Yeah, 31-34 in the Big Ten the last 3 plus years (sub-.500 in year four). We're used to it.

Should the statue face the stadium or University Ave?
 

I dont think Tubby will bail on his first recruiting class that will be Seniors next year just because of what has happened the last two seasons. Yes this year and last were and are very frustrating but I think the storm has settled. It does concern me though that he hasnt signed and extension which I believe could be due to the total lack of a plan for a practice facility. Why not at least start some type of fundraising or something.

Maybe if Myron gets fired the rest of you will finally wake up and see how below average he is to be hired to cover a major program and it's unacceptable.
 

Nolen still struggles as a jump shooter? Tubby is somehow supposed to just make him a shooter? Myron should just not answer questions. He only makes himself look worse. It's hard to take his bball knowledge seriously. I won't even get into the whole coaching thing. Will Myron still think Tubby will leave right before he retires? Schools usually look to start over with a coach who will be there for than a few years. Tubby isn't exactly young. NBA? Are you serious Myron? Don't you think he would've left a long time ago if he could've/wanted to?

Yes Myron.Tubby and his staff have failed to turn Blake Hoffarber into a high flying dunker. Blake plays extremely solid fundamental basketball. Blake is limited. I don’t even know what that means Myron!

IF MJ --- that certainly is a BIG IF. BUT - IF MJ offers I would think Tubby is gone.

I know nothing of what it takes to be a successful coach in the NBA. For that matter, I am not sure what it takes to be a successful 'big time' college coach. Is it more important to know X's and O's - or how to run the Triangle? Or is it handling players? Tubby is a pretty good salesman. He knows his way around the game. He likes to make his appearances at the TWolves games - esp when his former players are in town, so he has an interest in the NBA game. IF MJ offers $25 Million, I think we can start a new coach search.

Is it time for Selection Sunday to draw up a potential 'new coach' search list? Is Flip still coaching the Wizzards? What's Tim Miles record at CSU? ;)

There will be a Gopher practice facility before Tubby retires.

Any team would offer him a multi-year deal worth $2 million (per) or higher.

Tubby wants to coach in NBA. He was regularly approached in early 2000's but declined each time.
 

I wouldn't be surprised at all if he left. The suprise would be if it was for the NBA.

And if he does leave it would be a loss but how big of a loss? Team in year 4 is no better than year 2.

I don't think there is many(there are a few) here that wouldn't agree that me might consider leaving. The problem is that Myron will answer any stupid question. If the idiot had half a brain he would gracefully decline to answer the question because it is a baseless rumor someone made up 5 minutes before. If there was something public said by a university or AD that they may be interested then fine answer the question but it is just stupid to pose the question and also to answer it for every potential opening.

I'd also argue that Nolen's jumpshot has improved. It isn't a lot better. He knocked down a few threes against Prudon't, including the game winner. Come on Myron. He's looked bad at times still, but he shot enough to keep defenses at least sort of honest; not shooting at all was the problem last year. His freethrow shooting is solid dispite his 3 point %.
 

Practice facility??

Maybe that is why we are so bad at free throws. No practice facility:)
