It also seemed like MacKenzie handled the ball a whole lot more as the season wore on and Nolen's offensive short comings became more obvious.
Will you share, zTTa?BTW Stan, care to share with the legions your past moniker?
Will you share, zTTa?
I think you have Nolen assessed correctly. Some PGs have a real sense of the pace of the game, what they can exploit and their role in each game. Al has a hard time feeling the game on the offensive side of the court. He alternates between trying to do too much and just dribbling/passing around without a purpose. That stuff is hard to coach.
On defense he can use his toughness, quickness and ball hawking skills very effectively....his comfort zone. If Cobb or Joseph can run the offense, score when the opportunity presents itself, and play intense D...well, they will rotate for a lot of time at PG next year.
Again you fail to admit that a n was a better player as a so. Perhaps tubby has broken him? Can he be rebuilt?
I'm not sure if you're talking past tense ? Is Al a better player this year than he was last year ? Has he regressed ? I don't think he's regressed at all but his limitations are being shown through his increased role and minutes this year as others have said. I think you would prefer to blame it on Tubby. I don't. I think overall he's an average player and typical of Monson's recruiting. I really, really, wish Tubby could have signed V. Jones so we could have had a reliable scorer at the point. Tubby knew Al's limitations. I'm seeing Al's minutes reduced next year with Cobb coming in and Joseph and a viable option.
Oh yes, you were singing the praises of V Jones when he was being recruited. Not.
Moderator Snowman.
Height of HYpocrisy = MN SNowman. Are you going to have another meltdown?
You know who Stan and Blizzard are, dont you moderator?
GH = Hypocrisy. Having MN Boy as moderator.
Bleed, Lady, Jason, etc - great decison making.
STFU, TT.
TT - If you have issues with Tubby or the coaching staff why don't you let everyone know what they are ?
There's nothing wrong with being critical and none of the coaches and players are above reproach past or present.
Results are all that matters. Lots and lots of wins against top competition, Big 10 and NCAA titles.
When are you expecting to see those results ? Do you think Tubby and Co. have brought them quickly enough ?
FOT - such language.
Snowman - I am sure you will address the foul posts from FOT.
Immediately. After all, the previous regime was, at best, horrid.
Expectations are sky high, the same as the compensation of the coach. Where they should be, dont you agree
Gophers go from 9 - 20 to 20 - 14 and then 20 - 9 ( so far ) looking good for an NCAA berth. I don't believe the sky high goals will be reached with the talent leftover on the roster from the former regime. Not a bash on those players. Tubby's getting, I'm sure, as much as they have to offer talentwise. I expect that Tubby's making money for the University the same as Boeheim with Syracuse though probably not quite as much.
With attendance, I wonder if the basketball program was able to turn a profit under Monson.
Have to agree with FOT ZTA - SU or STFU. Which ever you prefer.
Now, why is it that so many folks on the hole have such a tough time with high expectations?
I'm just not sure what your deal is with Tubby. Others have asked but you haven't answered - what issues do you have with Tubby as a coach ?
And I'm not sure that I would say others don't have high expectations as seen in the mini meltdowns that have occured here after losses.
Cant read due to the Blizzard? Or choose not to?
Win, and win big Blizzard.
Results.
Have we not seen results since Tubby took over ?
From 9 to 20 to 20 plus and a likely NCAA bid.
In the short amount of time that Tubby's had here what were you expecting as far as results go ?
Don't let the Truth be telling.
Ah. Okay. Truth Teller expected that Tubby would take a team that was 9-20 and have them winning the Big 10 in two years. That's why TT is so salty right now. Now, there are two possibilities. Either TT is really just looking to stir the pot, and is criticizing the coach to spark angry responses, or he actually expected a Big 10 title in two years, and thus, is a stark, raving lunatic, and is a danger to himself and others. My money's on the former, but who knows?
But why dont you talk about the putrid offense?
Really ZTA I believe the onus is on you to talk about the " putrid " offense. So far the Gophers are averaging about six points less per game than last year. I believe losing three seniors, that accounted for somewhere above 50 percent of our scoring last year may have something to do with it. Without capable players to replace them and having freshman forced into those starting roles again I would ask what were expecting from our offense this year and why has that failed your expectations and so also would be winning big. We're you expecting a B10 Title or a deep run in the NCAA tournament this year ?
