MSU/Minnesota game chat

Green traveled three times in the first half. With that said, that was not why they lost. They were just out muscled from start to finish.

good effort tonight. Could have easily been 20+, but they hung in for a while. Wisky, Illinois at home and Neb and Iowa on the road coming up. Need to win 3 out of the 4 to get to .500. doable.

You little ash hat bltch. you wrong. im mad. get the hellll out of gopherhole.

Worst possible matchup for Minnesota. I wish someone could have charted how many fluent shots Minnesota attempted within a defined offensive set or flow. The answer: Very few. This wasn't good tonight on offense. Michigan State dominated the boards and completely pushed around the Gophers. Losses like this are tough on young teams.

Minnesota can win it's next couple games though.

Dre looks completely lost on offense.

Give Dre credit - this was his best game defensively. That's been an issue for his. He's going to be a good player. Wait and see.

MSU and OSU are easily the class of the B1G and matchup nightmares for a Mbakwe/Walker-less Gopher squad.

No doubt that was the best team they have played this year.

Coleman does force the issue a little, but really that's what this team needs(ed). He is by far our most active player.

My eyes don't lie. We've seen some bad calls this year, but this is the most one-sided I've seen the calls go. It's hard for the Gophers to be as physical as they need to be when they're not allowed. There's just no way to win that game. It's like the Cosby routine when you lose the coin toss.

@MSU, Izzo going for 400, Eddie Hightower. Tough combo. We fought hard. Beat Illinois.

Gophers have little to be ashamed of. They weren't at their sharpest, and they needed to be. But the deck was stacked, and the refs made that clear in the first half. Gophs should have just fought harder and meaner regardless of the calls, but that's hindsight.

If they can shake this off, they can regain their form and be just fine.

Gophers have played really well on the road this year, so you can't be too upset about one bad performance against a top 2 team in the league. The Illiinois game is HUGE.

1. Ralph shouldn't play in the 2nd half at all. Just killing us right now.

2. Anyone that is DVRing the game, when you get a chance, go back to about the 5:30 mark in the 1st half. You'll see Draymond Green do a nice moonwalk with the ball. He seriously slid his pivot foot a good 12 inches as he delivered the ball down low.

Edit: 3. The refs like to call a foul on us every time we breath on them.

Re #2 -- Glad someone else saw that, too. But we must understand that traveling is rarely called on "athletic"-looking players.

You mean, for instance, the 4 steps before throwing the shovel pass down low? The one they showed 3 times in replay but nobody mentioned the travel because they were too busy fawning over the pass?

He is the most cerebral player in college basketball, after all.

It's amazing the kinds of passes you can throw when you're allowed to run around your defender.
