Did the Gophs cool on Cam Spencer? Haven't heard much since he said he planned to visit.

On April 7th it talked about him wanting to visit Minnesota for sure

but just yesterday this popped up on Twitter with no Minnesota mention.

Cam Spencer would be my number 1 choice of the ones previously listed as likely prospects.
 












So 2 spots left for McIntosh, Strong, Stewart and Thompson.

Guessing Stewart and McIntosh will be the ones we get. Maybe Strong over McIntosh. Thoughts?

if those are the 4 remaining my choice would be Strong & Stewart.

but part of me still thinks Bens going to have a hard time filling that last roster spot with a meaningful player.....only so many minutes to go around and i think he will have a hard time getting the last "guard" to commit because of that...

which is why Cooper pushed up his commitment to get the PG spot before Mcintosh.

but if he would be able to get either Strong or McIntosh to buy into that role of back up PG/CG and they sign then that is a heck of a accomplishment in its own right.....

I’m just following gopher hole chatter and looking at some different transfer articles and rankings. I don’t know what is realistic and the PG situation sounds like a bunch of different thoughts. The most clear transfer is Garcia and he is a big one for us. Of the PG options I think I like Ta’lon Cooper from Morehead State. Not crazy about McIntosh or some of the others but could be talked into Thompson. Of the SG options I like Jones as it sounds like he is a good shooter and decent defender. Still hope Walton would hit the market. I’m dreaming but still wouldn’t mind some interest from other big name transfers. I am also cheering for any and all great transfers to stay away from other Big Ten schools.

I’m hoping to wish another thing into existence. In a few days Caleb Love will announce he is returning to UNC and Walton will put his name in the portal. He will announce a final four of Minnesota, Wisconsin, Iowa and Iowa State. Then he will choose the Gophers.

Its obvious that many of this board want Walton . Why? He rarely got PT the last part of the season. Injured? Dog house?

Does anyone have any video of this season UNC playing time?

Very true. I generally think most of these guys want to play professionally and they need opportunities to show it, which maybe seems less likely for him at UNC. I wouldn’t be surprised if he transfers and I would hope he strongly considers the Gophers.
 

Read some unc fans think he didn’t hold his own on defense

Because he was a highly touted prospect in HS and he's from Minnesota. If I had to wager though, most of the people on this board haven't seen him play since high school. I know I haven't.

That being said we need 1-2 more guards for this season and maybe he'd do better under CBJ playing in his home state. I wouldn't be opposed to giving him a shot but I doubt CBJ promises him a starting role out of the gate.

Ben doesn't have to promise him anything. They both know Walton would be a starter on this team from Day One. Ben knows it; Kerwin knows it.

That's just not true. If it was, he'd likely already have transferred here.

It has been reported before that Walton would not be a high priority for Johnson if he did enter the portal. This board continues to vastly overrate his abilities just because he was once a 4* from MN.
