Missouri fan discussions

Aaah... You know your history. That's the uniqueness of the Mizzou/kU rivalry. I have friends from the western side of the state who have relatives they know who were murdered by kansas raiders during the Civil War. So, the hatred for all things kansas is taught to them at an early age.

Because you know about John Brown and the Bushwhackers (by the way, both sides were in the wrong), you might find this interesting... It's a T-shirt Mizzou fans sometimes wear when we would play kU.

It's hard to see in this picture, but as you can tell, it says Scoreboard. And then above it is a picture of when the Quantrill's raiders burned Lawrence to the ground in 1856.

So, yeah, there's still plenty of bad blood among the two schools, even though we don't play each other anymore.

That is interesting to share MizzouBob, thanks. I like that some actual history (not just football/general State v. State dislike) is tied to your disdain towards kansas. Albeit, if it is some unfortunate history for both sides.

I don't have much to add but I do have an interesting story. I am a Mizzou alum having graduated in 1994. For you Mizzou folks, during my freshman year I lived in Baker Park dorms which have since been torn down. I then moved to College Park Apartments with 3 buddies. You couldn't find a bigger Mizzou fan than me. My job moved me up to Minneapolis in 1998. Because I'm a huge college sports fan and because I could no longer watch Mizzou on a regular basis, I adopted the Gophers as "my" team. I have been a Minnesota donor for years as well as a Gopher football season ticket holder. We attend as many Gopher sporting events as possible throughout the year. All sports.

Because Mizzou already has a successful football program and Minnesota is up and coming, I'm pulling for Minnesota although I will still be happy if Mizzou wins. I was one who didn't want a Mizzou/Minnesota match-up but for purely selfish reasons.

Hey, neighbor. I lived in Graham Hall my freshman year; although, I didn't get there until 1999. And I spent MANY nights drinking at College Park.

I'm sorry to hear you'll be pulling for the Gophers... I'll chalk it up to the early brain freeze -- I understand it gets mighty cold up there.

Sorry, I have to disagree. You had a lot to add.

For Mizzou fans if you want to see us at our best, watch our game v Iowa. To see us at our worst the TCU game (granted the def was okay that game, overall it was such a dud it was depressing. And I was there in person to witness it).
