Minnesota @ Northwestern Game Thread

nice to see Westbrook returning to old form...disappear when the team is REALLY struggling and hog the ball at the end and actually pad more meaningless stats

simply unacceptable loss. You just cannot lose to Northwestern, a team that hasn't won since december 23rd. This is a terrible loss and we have to come out like madmen against purdue

We were really passive against the zone. We knew it would be coming and our guys didn't attack it with any sense of purpose or urgency.

I'm not really down on the guys too much because we sometimes forget these guys are still really young. We just didn't execute against the zone at all, if we had, we would have won this game easily.

Games like this happen. Now, we need to pick our heads up and take care of our home court against Purdue...

dang zone

If we could dribble penetrate or keep the ball moving (as stated above), we'd have been okay. They got too many layups going the other way off of TOs. Giving up layups, a hot-shooting Moore, and NU had an easy win.

That was a pretty disappointing game considering the Gophers were up 32-23 near the end of the first half and had the lead at halftime. Nolen was clueless in the 2nd half and couldn't seem to throw it over a defender to get it to a teammate. Every player pretty much didn't know what to do against the zone when the simple answer was to go down low where they had their smallest player playing. Awful misses, turnovers, and coming off an emotional high against Wisconsin doomed us in the 2nd half IMO. An average shooting day in the 2nd half and this outcome never happens. Westbrook also took too many shots near the end of the game in order to relive his great performance against Becky.

32-23 but had several TO and let NWU back into the game at halftime. Gophers could EASILY have had double digit lead at half.
