they probably have outlawed dunks and play without a 3 point line.

This is well before your 20-year cutoff, but Randy Breuer's 1-A Lake City teams of 1978 and 1979 would have beaten any team in the state.

Maybe....but I don't think it's a given. Prior Lake had a powerhouse back in the late 70's. In '78 they won the state tournament after the two Pederson brothers had graduated. I think it is just like today. Sure EP beat Minnehaha last year, but if they played 10 times, they would have probably split.

Those charters have to be merging with other schools to be playing 2A. None of them are large enough in and of themselves.

CDH, Holy Angels, and Benilde are schools you pay for the equivalent of a suburban public education. SPA, Breck and Blake are Ivy prep schools you pay $35k+ a year for.
Breck is right around 31K, though a fair amount of families get some financial aid

Absolutely great kids but it was a rough basketball season this year for Nova Classic.

It's actually a prep school for VillaNova. We keep losing instate recruits to villaNova, if only Pitino could have kept them!!!!

It is a charter school where they teach 1950s style. Everything is lecture based

This is all reactionary nonsense. Minnehaha was trash for decades and nobody cared what class they’re in. Now that they’re good people want to move them up to play schools 5 times bigger than them. When they come back to the pack will we move them back down? Classes are about size, not talent or preseason rankings.

Breck is 35,750. We have some of great grandchildren there. About 15% of the kids are on scholarship. It helps with creating diversity. Great school. Focus is not on athletics although for year they have recruited and paid tuition for gifted hockey players. As a example of balance, when they won state hockey titles they did not have pep celebrations, they do not have cheerleaders, and believe that the debate champion, or science champion or the drama talent are all at least as talented. All the kids do community service and every kid has a required activity.

Tuition depends on grade, the scholarships for hockey players has come to a screeching halt of late however which if not reversed will likely have a pretty negative impact in the future. They need to be able to bring in additional players atleast st the girls level because the total number of girls that play hockey that grow up in the school wouldn’t be enough to filed any sort of a competitive team. We love the school though for our daughter.

I was talking about high school.Everyone knows who paid the way for the boys hockey players and facility. Love the school as well for the 4 grandchildren that went through and had a tremendous experience and played a major part in getting college of first choice. Now the next gen is there.

Imagine winning the state championship 80-29, with 4 players returning that have D1 offers, and going down a class
I will say of the 4 returning some of the offers probably aren’t available. Chase Carter is no where near a D1 player

Classes are about size
This argument is correct ...... for public schools.

I frankly think the private school should have their own association, and their own state playoffs/championships.

Some states do it that way.

Those states have enough private schools for that to make sense. MN doesnt. DLS moved up a class and are playing FB teams who have teams with 50 Jrs and Srs on varisty while DLS only has like 35 legit varsity guys. You want schools to compete with schools 4 times their size just because they have talent. Even in Illinois there are only 4 classes for basketball even though its 4 times the population as MN and thats public and private.
