Minnehaha Academy drops to 2A?

Wow, run and hide. Prince, Mercy, Chase Carter, Donovan Smith will absolutely dominate 2A unless Caledonia can do something about it. Looks like Totino and Minnehaha will both be state champs next year

They were called the best high school team ever but could not beat Eden Prairie.

Tuition. CDH $14k, STA and MHA $21k. SPA, Breck and Blake $30k.... my somewhat educated guess

I only saw that EP team play three times...twice when the core was juniors....but they were a fun team to watch. I know Drake Dobbs is at Liberty....where did the other players on that team go?

SPA, Breck and Blake are Ivy prep schools you pay $35k+ a year for.
Part of "the wheel" of how the rich stay rich.

If you're rich, you can afford an artificially inflated price for a school, which is a signal to a rich college to accept the student, and then which is a signal to a rich job to hire the grad and make them rich. Over and over.

Math & Science Academy & Hmong Prep will certainly be able to put up a fight with them

My buddies and I were talking about this... in the last 20 years how often has the best team in the state been a 4A team...

2021 - Minnehaha (3A) beat Wayzata (4A) by 7
2020 - No state tourney but guessing Eden Prairie (4A)was the best. Beat Minnehaha by 12
2019 - Minnehaha (2A) beat DeLaSalle (3A) who beat Hopkins (4A). Should be noted Hopkins beat Minnehaha
2018 - Minnehaha (2A) never played Cretin (4A) but they beat Apple Valley who Cretin beat on the Oturu dunk
2017 - None of the state champions played each other in the regular season

Looking back I remember some of those DeLaSalle (3A), Transitions (1A), Litchfield (2A), and Braham (2A) teams could, and would, play and beat anyone they came across.

Minnehaha was calling themselves the greatest team ever. Got physically handled by CDH blamed it on just finishing football blah blah. Started proclaiming it again said they were healthy just got Hercy then got done on their home court by EP. I think Minnehaha’s AD even had a quote in the Star Tribune saying so.. comical

This is true and has been for... forever. I am old enough to remember the one-class state tournaments they had for only 2 years.... '94-96. Would be fun to see the 4-class champs play in a final four format to crown a single champ.

But the MN state high school league in all their wisdom and desire to give everyone a trophy would never be that thoughtful.

Classes make sense.

For public schools.

This is well before your 20-year cutoff, but Randy Breuer's 1-A Lake City teams of 1978 and 1979 would have beaten any team in the state.

Charter Schools are 1A. Not relevant.

I remember that as well... Staples-Motley almost took down North. I was just a kid but it was so much fun to watch.

I thought Hmong Prep was some kind of racist remark. It's real. I am too old for this board.

I'm old enough to have played in it! Well, I use the term play loosely since I didn't get off the bench. We got clobbered by New London-Spicer first round. First time we had made the tournament in over 70 years.

It used to be just one class....and then when it first went to two classes they had a playoff game between the two winners. That was in the early 70's. In the 90's they tried to bring back one state champion, but after a couple of years they expanded it again. I remember going to the State tournament as a middle schooler....it always seemed like Little Falls had a great team.

Minnesota should probably only have 3 classes of basketball and it should be illegal for a private school to play in the lowest class.

Likewise, football should have 6 classes, not the current 7.
