Read it was back, neck, and foot. I imagine there all the same issue.Does anybody know what exactly is wrong with Matta?

He has some sort of back problem. I just remember when he was still coaching, he had to wear a brace on one leg because he had no feeling in it and had foot drop.
Meh there's a reason he was fired. We would be doing cartwheels if Thad came along with our hire.
Would not walk away to take care of his health. They did him a favor. Highest winning % in conference history.Meh there's a reason he was fired.
Yes, we hired worse unfortunately....like bringing mark Madson in to shoot a three pointer. They hired their Sam Mitchell. Even MN didn't do that. Lol.
I’m not getting the mocking of the hire. While I don’t think it’s spectacular, I see it as much more likely to succeed over what Minnesota did. At a minimum I think Gopher fans should lay low and see how things play out with BJ before mocking other hires. Glasshouses and stuff.Yes, we hired worse unfortunately....like bringing mark Madson in to shoot a three pointer.
Maybe our hire and Indiana's are great hires. Let's give it some time before we judge anything.Wow. And I thought our hire was bad. Anybody care to venture onto the Indiana basketball forum and let us know how they're taking it?
His worst four seasons at tOSU were probably the last 4. Health a definite factor. But being 6 games over .500 in the conference and missing the tournament twice doesn’t fly there. Guessing the firing was as much about performance as it was health—even if performance was due in part to health.Would not walk away to take care of his health. They did him a favor. Highest winning % in conference history.
It’s a message board. Why do people want to wait and not comment? Very boring if we cant give input on anything until we see how it plays out. We could finally talk about Eric Curry committing since we’ve seen how it played out.Maybe our hire and Indiana's are great hires. Let's give it some time before we judge anything.
They hired a basketball guy, it seems to be the trend. Michigan is doing ok with it.
More like Mitchell. JB is 42. Woodson is 63.This is like us hiring JB.
Age alone. I wasn’t crazy about Dutcher or Belilein because of age, but they’re good enough coaches, it could have worked. This dude is just as old, but is starting at ground zero in even learning the college game, recruiting, academics, etc. BJ at least is young and already in the college game. In this instance, I’ll take the guy with no HC experience. How?
I think all these guys without HC experience getting jobs in the B1G need to send Juwan a very nice thank you card. Now, each time a hire like this happens, the response is “but it worked at Michigan!”, somehow justifying a questionable hire.Yeah, I don't know why there's celebration around here about this choice. Clyde Drexler may have failed at Houston but Juwan Howard is sure doing very well at Michigan.
Is Pitino really a basketball guy, I doubt he is any more of one than you or I. He may study it a bit more but from a competitive on court perspective he has no more insight than you or I. Does it matter, maybe not, I think it does.Has anyone in the history of time ever not hired a basketball guy for a heading coaching job?
It's like when your neighbor hits the lottery. You see that playing the lottery paid out for them, so you quit your job and start putting your life savings into playing the powerball, assuming the same thing will happen to you. "If it worked for them, it has to work for me!" I mean, is it possible? Sure. Probable? Not likely.Everyone trying to pretend they can get as lucky as Michigan did?
smh
Head of organizing "activites" for IU boosters with money to burn and burner cellphones at the ready. And in this case, add in Thad Matta in whatever nebulous faux-coach position they have him in
Seriously, what's the over/under on future sanctions as related to this hire? 50/50?Head of organizing "activites" for IU boosters with money to burn and burner cellphones at the ready.
I can't imagine being the booster that spent 10 million on the Miller buyout to bring in Mike Woodson.

You mean the 80 year old Brown whose last gig resulted in sanctions for SMU? Man, I hope that happens. Somebody get me some popcorn! What could possibly go wrong?Woodson is apparently in contact with Larry Brown about coming on board in some capacity.
That's one way to make 63 seem young!Woodson is apparently in contact with Larry Brown about coming on board in some capacity.
Not just at SMU, but also way back in the late '80s with Kansas, leaving them to deal with sanctions after he fled to the NBA. He also was a pioneer, bringing Ed Manning on board as an assistant, with his son Danny to follow--if I remember correctly, this was the first instance of the blatant hiring of a family member to procure the commitment of a standout player. Yes, please, bring noble Larry Brown on board .You mean the 80 year old Brown whose last gig resulted in sanctions for SMU? Man, I hope that happens. Somebody get me some popcorn! I know, I know, it's Larry Brown and the cheating, but what a career. I mean this dude has done it all. Amazing.Woodson is apparently in contact with Larry Brown about coming on board in some capacity.
What I read or saw suggested Larry would be on-campus instruction only, and not connected with recruiting. Not likely to allow him to repeat his past indiscretions, easily anyway. Not just at SMU, but also way back in the late '80s with Kansas, leaving them to deal with sanctions after he fled to the NBA.
