Mike Max: ‘Auburn’s Speed Might Be A Little Bit Much’; biggest problem "self doubt about do we belong with the big boys"

Last I checked Gophers played in the B1G Conference. Guess that’s not big enough boys for Mike Max.

Max is one of the worst sports readers of all time. The pompous SOB think he know everything, I change the station when ever he come on.

They is all BS, of course Auburn has speed, and highly ranked players, but what have they done with that? PJ's team will never think they are inferior to any opponent!

As for little Stevie, the fake Auburn fan. A poor stereotype of a southerner.

"Fake" Auburn fan?

Wait... you're saying that the constant use of 'y'all' is... a clever ruse of some kind?

Wow. I'm shocked! I thought every person posting anonymously on a message board was truly who they claimed to be.

No need to apologize. You are doing the best you can and I am proud of you for that.

Yes Stevie. Your mommy (Maw) and grammy (Gramaw ) love you, and you will always be smart (smert) in their book. Keep trying hard and good things will happen for you in spite of your limitations.

Why don't ya'll tune in and watch your '72 Dolphins aka Ped U get handled by something called Memphis? So impressive that you beat them at home!!
Isn't Penn State winning? Seems like an odd statement to make.

Stevie seems to be another fine example of " Southern charm ". PSU handled Memphis nicely today. Big ten 3-0 so far. I went to the national championship game when Alabama rolled over ND. Their fans made WI. fans all look like Rhode scholars.

That is not an easy task...:drink:

That Penn State win looks even better now!

You have to like Auburn to score 40, even though no one has scored 40 since Rossi took over.

Here’s what PFF said about Bo Nix in their “pro potential” ranking.

26. BO NIX, AUBURN TIGERS
Year: Freshman
Sure, he is a true freshman starter at a blue blood SEC program, but there really isn't much on the field that suggests Nix is going to flip the switch to being a top prospect. Particularly, Nix's accuracy is questionable: 48.1% of his passes 10-plus yards downfield were deemed uncatchable — a figure that ranked 96th out of 104 qualifying QBs.
Bowl matchup: Minnesota in the Outback Bowl

Do real, native-born southerners actually use "y'all" (spelled out, exactly that way) constantly, when they post????

I doubt it.

I'm thinking you're a bit of a phony, my friend. I think you're yet another in a long line of mom's basement trolls, from right here in KFAN-land.

Woodbury? Osseo? Maple Grove? Some outer-ring suburb of the Twin Cities metro, I'm guessing...

Even worse, he keeps putting the apostrophe in the wrong place. It’s y’all, not ya’ll. An actual Southerner wouldn’t make that mistake. Anyway, it was noted on another thread that he has a Wisconsin IP address.

You are on to something. The proper way to use it is y’all, not ya’ll as this poster has.

Yes, and I can picture a southerner using it in verbal conversation, but not using it in writing. It seems natural when spoken, but highly contrived when written out.

A question for any (authentic) southerners:

Which regions do and do not usually use 'y'all'?

Example: I've spent a fair amount of time in Texas, yet I can't recall ever hearing it used there.

The media? lol I'm still not sure why ya'll think this game won't be over before halftime when outside Poo U.., ya'll did nothing. It's not like you went toe to toe all season long with the LSU's, the Alabama's, the Florida's or the Georgia's of the world. Rutger's probably hardened ya'll though! :ROFLMAO::coffee:

You sure do like flapping your gums, donch’ya boy? Tell ya what, you and me... at the Waffle House off W Columbus this coming Wednesday. We can settle our differences like gentlemen. Whaddya say?

Includes a regional use map

Thanks for posting.

" Scots-Irish immigrants to the Southern United States frequently used the term ye aw.[8] Some evidence suggests that y'allcould have evolved from ye aw due to the influence of African slaves who may have adapted the Scots-Irish term.[9] An alternative theory is that y'all is a calque of Gullah and Caribbean creole una via earlier dialects of African-American English.[5] Y'all is an original form, deriving from indigenous processes of grammar and morphological change, not from input from other English dialects.[5]"

This stuff is absolutely fascinating to me.
