Michigan State is working to hire Cardinals DL coach Winston DeLattiboudere to the same role.

That account can't be a real person. Has to either be a bit or a troll.
My take along with making fun of the schmuck is that WD likely would be a better DC than Collins. Seems reasonable or would you like to take a shot at WD?

He might be better. But by your own logic in other posts in this thread he can’t be.

This is why you’re a dumbass.
You’re also a dumbass because you don’t realize nobody has taken a shot at WD in this entire conversation.

The only three people that have been ripped on in this conversation are Collins (by you) and MSM (by you), and you (by me).

Imagine how many more great safeties we would've recruited to the U and how many first day draft picks we would've had at safety in lieu of what we've seen if we would've hired a manly man at safety coach who played football like a big boy instead of Collins.

Collins has proven he knows what he's doing as a position coach and is being given the opportunity to show he'll catch on as a DC. He's earned some leash based on merit, he also ran a defense with tolerable stats.

2025 Defense across all FBS:
41st in total yards allowed
66th in pass ypg allowed
31st in rush ypg allowed
28th in first downs pg allowed
58th in ppg allowed (23.8)

He's earned the chance for another year. We've been spoiled by some very above average defenses in the recent past. Some of you seem to only remember the big plays we've given up, or questionable formation decisions, but the defense overall was average at worst this year.

I see Michigan State has hired Iowa’s special teams coach. According to the news broadcast, his name is Lavar Woods and he was also their chief recruiter in addition to coaching their special teams.

I don't want Danny Collins as our DC because I think he sucks and we could do much, much better if P.J. would ever hire someone outside his good ol' boy network. The facts that he didn't play and is a "midget" are completely immaterial.

P.J. was a much better player than Nick Saban, and also played many more snaps. By dipshit's logic, P.J. is therefore a much better coach.

Played for Kirk's first team. Played in the NFL and has never coached anywhere else. Iowa already has an assistant coach, so I think it was a mutual move with Ferentz involved to get him more experience and spotlight to move up the ranks. Fitzgerald is putting a good team together. I wonder who they will seek for QB in the Portal.

He’s still in Arizona. Perhaps he will meet up with PJ next week.

He will soon discover that Michigan State is not his home, but rather Dinky Town.

Well that's a kick in the nuts.

Very disappointing.
I'm reading this more as he liked playing and coaching under Rossi and is valuing that more for his career at the moment. He just lost his job in the NFL, and needs a landing spot and his options were "familiar place, new manager" or "new place, familiar manager". If I had good rapport with a particular manager and was newly looking for a job and said manager had an opening that fit my skill set, I'd probably take that job over a similar job back at a company I used to work for.

If the Gophers have an Open DC position in the future and WDIII is hired as a DC for another P4 program that same year, then I'd feel a tad more upset.

I read it as a missed opportunity.

WD went out and learned outside of where he played akin to a family owned company requiring the kids to work outside the company before they can come back into the fold. After this year it’s pretty clear any learning curve he might have would be no greater than 5’3’s plus he’s a recruiting savant. Upside is way higher.
Who exactly are we crediting as WD recruits? Seems like we recruited dline just as well before and after WD was here.
