Michigan State in the $$$$

I've seen a few of these massive number announcements and while I'm sure there's an impact ... the whole massive sudden success rarely seems to come like you imagine it might.

I suspect these donations are a lot more nuanced, maybe not even guaranteed and so on.

As we've seen first-hand, facilities investments take time to be realized (additional fundraising and construction time) and only get you closer to the current standard which has typically moved by the time you complete your own project.

It is amazing how much influence one rich person can have on all of college football now. What's stopping someone from giving a massive amount of money to be used for NIL in a year or a short period so the program can just buy the best of the best?

Nothing, but it would be much harder in football due to the number of players and the nature of hte game. I fully expect this to happen in basketball very soon.

Soon? The LifeWallet guy already did it with Miami a couple years ago.

I think someone joked about this before but you almost have to wonder how long until a college team is bought/funded by the Saudis. It's happening in pro soccer already.

100%.....way harder to buy your way to a title in football, not impossible, but harder. The number of players plus injuries makes it really difficult.

Different story in basketball. Some rich dude could definitely come in and try to buy a dream team. Still have to get the right players though. Rutgers had the #2 and #5 picks in the most recent NBA draft but didn't get the results to show for having that kind of talent due to their age and injuries.
