Michigan Back In The Headlines

What a joke. Should never have been in the playoffs, much less the national champion. Those in power were weak as hell and afraid to make a damn decision.

Looks as though Harbough will stay in the NFL so he doesn't have to deal with his crimes.
When tressel moved to NFL nfl gave him a punishment for his Ohio state violations

Will be interesting to see what the nfl does Here, if anything

I'm sure the NCAA will swiftly remove their title.

In all seriousness that should be the only outcome. The program is rotten from top to bottom, the fanbase is the worst, and what the NCAA already knows is almost certainly the tip of the iceberg. Dead to rights. Coaches running for the hills. Destroying evidence, improper coercion.

People that say the players shouldn’t suffer for the coaches malfeasance are misguided. There has to be some minimal disincentive. Given the lurch towards anarchy in recent years but more importantly TV revenue at stake they’ll probably get a laughable $5M fine.

Why are we wanting to penalize student athletes who won a title for issues adults in charge made?

Cheating adults should be held accountable. Not the students who earned a title with their effort on the field.

Maybe because the cheating helped the team to win, affecting everyone associated with the team.

Just a reminder that college athletes are adults and paid well. They also likely knew this stuff was going on.

in sports - as in politics - it's often not the first mistake that causes the most damage - it's the cover-up of that mistake.

according to the articles I've read, the NCAA has had problems coming up with definitive evidence on the advance scouting/sign-stealing violations, because people connected with Michigan refused to cooperate and in several cases, actively tried to destroy evidence.

so now, it looks like the NCAA is focusing on the violations connected with the cover-up to go after Michigan because - as of now - they don't have the evidence to nail them on the original violations.

one of the alleged violations against the new Head Coach is that he tried to delete all of his electronic communications with Connor Stallions.

meanwhile, I still want to know how in the bleep Stallions wound up on the Central Michigan sidelines during a game wearing Central Michigan gear. someone had to notice this guy who wasn't a staff member - you would think someone would say "hey, who the F*** are you?"

They would have to be a little clueless otherwise. Man isn't it amazing how our Def coaching staff always has the right play call in every situation. It's like they know their playbook.

Well with Michigan arrogance, they said they just studied harder and worked harder.

When we need a spreadsheet to keep track of all the Stallions-related allegations and other violations cases versus Harbaugh and his staff at Michigan … institutional control/rot could be mentioned. Maybe we “know” more than we can “prove” in this case.

Options (check all that apply):
1. Vacated wins. Goes without saying and if this does not occur shame on everyone.
2. Coaching bans.
3. Roster shrinkage. Scholarship bans not enough in the age of collectives.
4. Fines. Sure.
5. Postseason bans. Seem least likely in today’s wacky climate

20 years ago this would have been really bad for Michigan... today, they may get a slap on the wrist.

This is just ohio state whining because Michigan kept beating them. Nothing to see here except haters hating in the National Champions.

if you missed it, this is Jim Harbaugh's statement on the new allegations:

Never lie. Never cheat. Never steal. I was raised with that lesson. I have raised my family on that lesson. I have preached that lesson to the teams I have coached. No one’s perfect. If you stumble, you apologize and you make it right. Today, I do not apologize. I did not participate, was not aware nor complicit in those said allegations. So for me, it’s back to work and attacking with an enthusiasm unknown to mankind.”

it's the Sergeant Schultz defense: "I Know Nothing!" the SOB is going to try and leave his assistant coaches holding the bag.

What a response. Said absolutely nothing. He was raised to not do those things isn't the same as not doing those things. Gotta believe this was done on purpose and pretty much screams guilt.

Borrowing from Mencken
No one in this world, so far as I know—and I have searched the records for years, and employed agents to help me—has ever lost money by underestimating the ethics of the great masses of Michigan Men

I’d guess they were smart enough to have off the record conversations or other means of communication not easily available to a non-government entity.

Neither Franklin nor Schiano coach for Ohio State. Pretty much the only people that don't think Michigan cheated are Michigan fans.
I honestly wouldn't care that much if Michigan didn't have arguably the most sanctimonious, holier than thou fan base in all of college athletics, who also think they are the smartest people to walk the Earth.

That combined with the fact that they have tried to turn the story around to make themselves look like victims means they can F off forever.

Because we can honestly question if they would have won if those adults had not cheated?

And you realize a lot of those "student athletes" are also adults right? They also likely knew about the cheating...

You act like this is Pop Warner Football.

edit: Word said it before me but it should be repeated.

This is just a post by an uniformed person who feels the need to defend cheaters because they have no idea what they are talking about. Nothing to see here they are just weird.

The best thing that ever happened to the Vikings was him walking in and annoying them with his attitude so much they chose not to hire him.

Wow. What a big punishment for Michigan. I’m so shocked /s

Edit: I know this is specific to Harbaugh, but this does nothing when the guy has a brand new 80 million dollar contract

I like the part where they told the guy that doesn't coach college football anymore that he can't coach college football until 2028. That'll learn 'em
