Miami top 3: Golden, Edsall and Trestman. Sound familiar?

I haven't been following it that close, but did they ever offer Leach the job?

Does Miami have any ex-punters that like to send out emails.

How hard that program has fallen. Reminds me of the Tennessee search last year. Hell, we might have done better than Tennessee. Notre Dame might be one more firing away from considering Trestman too.

Trestman received his law degree from UM. He has remained close with Kosar, who is a UM trustee.

]Is it just me, or does Trestman sound like the ultimate schmoozer with marginal qualifications? It seemed the only reason he was being considered here was because a lot of boosters liked him. Now, he is being considered in Miami because a trustee whom he is close with likes him.

It's very clear that 99% of the people on this board despise Trestman, but try to look at this objectively.

If he does get the Miami job, GH will attribute it to him being a great "schmoozer" (as if that is reason enough for an athletics department to agree to offer the job...well nevermind maybe ours would) and not because he has great respect throughout the football community and is maybe the best QB coach EVER. Funny how Miami, arguably one of the most successful programs in the last 20 years, may offer him the job...and we didn't even give him an INTERVIEW!!!!!!!

Trestman comes highly recommended from people that know football a little better than you or I.

I don't know of anyone who despises Trestman. He's a fine CFL coach. But it seemed that no one could come up with reasons why Trestman would be a good choice, just people demanding over and over that people tell us why we don't want him.

2 out of the last 3 Grey Cups!!! Maybe in Canada, but you get lucky once, but at least he didn't screw it up! Whether anyone here likes him or not is completely irrelevant as to whether he is a good football man. He has proved that.

Mark Rosen?

Is this Mark Rosen? Its pretty much a quote of what I heard him say a couple of weeks ago. Ohter than Kosar, who has he been QB coach to? Please tell us so we can push to get him in the Coaching Hall of Fame.

I think Trestman is an excellent football man. He is great with X and O's and has a nice record of developing QB's. That said, the reason I didn't want him for our job is that I believe we need a proven college level head coach. Trestman has the tools to be successful without question, but given the trauma our program sustained, I felt that we needed someone with a track record of running a college program. Its the same reason I didn't want a coordinator despite some excellent candidates there as well. While I wasn't overly in love with the Kill hire at first (not against him though either), I am starting to think he is a perfect fit for our program. He has a history of building programs and has a map he's used before that works and he intends to follow said map again. I think we will be very pleased with Kill over time. As for Trestman, I hope he gets his chance and does well with it. I just don't think he fit our needs at present.

I think we did better. Edsall may be the best of the lot for Miami - Leach would be a better fit there.

There are 8 teams in that league and I think Montreal is like the Yankees among them.

Maybe it's because our University doesn't like getting railroaded by a bunch of punk sissies who used threats and intimidation to try to get Trestman installed.

Again, will you tell me why you sissies took your names off the website? And why you took off the "contact us" button?

These things we KNOW here at GopherHole.com.

- Miami didn't get their first choice, Jon Gruden, a big-namer. Therefore they have a *&^!#*&^!#*&^!#*&^!#ty A.D.
- Trestman was only thought of for Head Coach because many people in town knew him and were hoping or a Trestman/Stein combo for Coach and A.D. Savegopherfootball was looking for a St. Loius Park native to replace Lucia also, and maybe Tubby, and certainly the Women's Golf Coach, if they knew who he was in the first place.
- All disadvantages for Minnesota disappear when Maturi does.
- Mason was a GREAT coach who should never have been fired. Except for his lousy defense, and his terrible clock management, or game time decisions, or failure to take responsibility, or disappearance from 1/1 to 8/1, or hatred of students, that said he was still a great coach. Proof is he could have any job he wanted, except for tOSU or any BCS school with a winning record.
- Mike Leach, except for everything we DON'T know.
- Tubby will never leave Minnesota as long as he gets his practise facility. Unless some other school is rumored to want him.
- Selling your teams Rose Bowl tickets is fine, cheering for another Big Ten team is heresy.

I don't understand why Mythbusters hasn't does done a show on this place.

Other than Kosar he was QB coach to: Vinny Testaverde, Steve DeBerg, Rich Gannon, Steve Young, Scott Mitchell, and Jake Plummer - just to name a few.
