Back to Jordan Hinojosa
.....The week of the state game, Hinojosa was battling a stomach virus. As his #1 fan, this is no excuse. He should have been playing. With that said, if you were watching the game, please notice how Hinojosa was doubled and tripled. When he is getting that, I feel he is doing his job. Did Jordan play to his potential, no he didn't. Could it have been because of the vrus, I don't know. As a football fan, it should not have been. But $#it happens at unwanted times. If you look at you tube and search Jordan Hinojosa, you will see a very emotional man saying what he will do in UM.I understand there will be comments said about him up there...... GOD Bless.
getthemall - You speak the truth about your son, there was no bias in your evaluation of the game.
Watching the game, Jordan WAS double and triple teamed. Being a "line guy", I evaluated his technique. Some of that technique is coached, but most of it is natural. Here's my evaluation:
1) Excellent Balance - While being double teamed, he maintained his upright position. I did not see him default to poor technique.
2) Aggressiveness - He maintained a "bead" on the ball. Always pushing and keeping his legs moving toward the ball.
3) Good "Fitness Shape" - He's been doing some running. I did not see a noticeable decline in his playing between the 1st and 4th quarters. I noticed there were a few times he wasn't in the game, but I'm assuming if he wasn't feeling well, that was prudent.
4) Strength - Very good strength...especially for an 18 yo kid. I see some upside here as he'll have even more time to hit the weights.
5) Well proportioned - When a kid hits the weights, a lot of times there's a certain "awkwardness" when they've gained some muscle bulk. I didn't see that in him. Again, he kept good balance.
6) Passionate - I saw his interview after the game. He wants to succeed and he is anxious to be "maroon and gold". His interview made me a big fan.
Bottom line: We will be hearing a lot from this guy. He appears to be a leader, a player, and most of all a student. Good luck to him. He will have a great college career.
One last thing: Lee Campbell was another important element in our defense a few years back. He also was out of Florida. Great kid, leader and student.
