And he’s still ineptIt's going to be against Green Bay backups, though.

The Vikings OL has been poor and held back the Vikings for 5+ years across many different QBs. Max wouldn't look good in the NFL in any setting but he would certainly look better with time to throw, although if the OL was better maybe JJ doesn't get hurt and Max never plays. If Max played for a different school no one would be making excuses for him.
If he played for a different school I’d feel the same about him as I do every third string QBIf Max played for a different school no one would be making excuses for him.
Maybe.Max does not deserve to be on a roster. Love the guy but he is not an NFL QB.
I think there is a distinct difference in raw athletic ability. I had to look it up, but Tune's Relative Athletic Score was 9.81 (out of 10). Of course, that doesn't mean all that much. Brock Purdy's was 4.51.Other than tripping over a lineman, that happens, no different than Clayton Tune, in my opinion.
He’s gonna close the year 3-1 in games he plays half or moreI think there is a distinct difference in raw athletic ability. I had to look it up, but Tune's Relative Athletic Score was 9.81 (out of 10). Of course, that doesn't mean all that much. Brock Purdy's was 4.51.
I think Brosmer is someone who sticks around for a few years as a #3/Practice Squad guy. Bright guy who probably adds a fair amount in the film room and could develop into someone who wouldn't be a white flag if forced into action.
Well he stupidly assumed he got tackled
Gophers flashback...Well he stupidly assumed he got tackled
Against a preseason defense ...He finished 7-8 passing for 57 yards but everyone will only remember the fumble.
I thought he looked really good as a passer today. He just needs to learn pocket presence under pressure. He finished 7-8 passing for 57 yards but everyone will only remember the fumble.
All he had to do was stay down.He finished 7-8 passing for 57 yards but everyone will only remember the fumble.
It's not that I disagree with you on any of this it's at the end of the day they have the money and the power. Apparently Craig Lieopold is involved now, he's an idiot but at least he's an idiot who likes to spend his inlaws fortuneLet's see how the 2026 season goes.
Plenty of spurned fans who are bitter.
Changing one 3rd Gen Pohlad for another, as the figurehead, won't rally the fans, or the players.
The debt relief investors are not going "toe the company line" either.
All because Joe needed a job.
It doesn't appear to me that McCarthy has the pain tolerance to o play quarterback in the NFL. I am sure it hurts to grip the football but at that level you have to battle through certain thingsIf McCarthy can’t ever play he can’t be the guy.
They’re going to bring in an expensive #2 to compete
Which really leaves max in a nice position to be number 3
The thing that could get him is if they have a guy they love still available in round 2-3 to be the third string
He's better than whatever green bay trotted out there today, but Max will never be an NFL starter and we need to upgrade the back up spot if we are going to continue to role with JJMaybe.
I think you overrated peoples #3s
I think max is a fine 3He's better than whatever green bay trotted out there today, but Max will never be an NFL starter and we need to upgrade the back up spot if we are going to continue to role with JJ
What? He didn't throw any interceptions today.Didn’t watch but looks like JJ finished with 2 interceptions, 4.6 yards per attempt, and a 34.2 rating today. Bad as it sounds?
The games I have watched he’s horribly inconsistent downfield. Even with time…
Fixable? Or accept he was never elite (at least not on the order of Sam Darnold’s college heroics) and move on. The question is what other detritus in the draft or free agent market is better than a hope and a prayer.
You must be looking at the wrong box score.Didn’t watch but looks like JJ finished with 2 interceptions, 4.6 yards per attempt, and a 34.2 rating today. Bad as it sounds?

Yeah, the pick 6 against Seattle was horrible....this one was more a case of Max thinking he was down and the play was over and not realizing it was his own friggin lineman that had tackled him and not a Packer. He obviously thought he was already down and was just popping up.
I reasonably think he likely thought he was tripped by a Packer defensive player and the play was over. His freaking inept left tackle got pushed back 9 yards by an equally inept Packer DE and the QB isn't going to be looking at who's leg tripped him up. Smartest play ever? No. Does it look bad? Yes. But, also not the follies many are trying to make it out to be.
Watching a bunch of the back-up qb's playing today and most of them are not very good. I think Max compares favorably to most of them. Not saying he's the next coming of Brock Purdy, but there's not a lot of good back-ups in today's NFL.I'll be surprised if Max isn't the QB3 next season. The Vikings will bring in a better backup.
Most QB3's in the NFL are not good, that's why they're 3rd stringers. Hell there are very few good backups. Do you think Clayton Tune is any better than Max? I don't.
Smart will not overcome lack of size and speed.Watching a bunch of the back-up qb's playing today and most of them are not very good. I think Max compares favorably to most of them. Not saying he's the next coming of Brock Purdy, but there's not a lot of good back-ups in today's NFL.
