I apologize if this was already posted earlier today - but didn't see it. I had heard about this story of the birthday party, which was something that was so cruel, and turned into something beautiful, but didn't know MG attended. He's representing our school with class.

Buffalo Bills tight end MarQueis Gray was among hundreds in Minnesota who stepped up for Mackenzie Moretter, who wanted to throw a party for her 10th birthday but got no response from her classmates when she sent out invitations.

This is just one more reason why MarQueis was my favorite Gopher football player during the 15 years I have had season tickets.

Q is a good egg. I hate it when people rip on him and other former players who they view as somehow not living up to expectations. Well, Q was a good citizen and ambassador for the U while he attended school. He continues to be both since graduating. He could have easily resented MN after initially failing to gain admittance, Brew unnecessarily burning his redshirt during his freshman season, and being misused between playing QB and WR while having injury problems. Instead, he made lemonade out of some lemons by having some memorable games while playing at the U (can you say "who hates iowa" and who beat them single handedly in 2011?) and is now playing in the NFL. I'm proud that Q is one of us!

SKI-U-MAH and Go Gophers!

Way to represent MG! Glad to see he has remained an excellent role model.

Very cool. I saw that Vikings WR Charles Johnson also attended with his family. By all accounts Gray is a fantastic person, as are a majority of the players who play under Kill.

Never was his greatest fan as a player but he's a great person. My old coworker lived next to him in either South Minneapolis or Richfield when he was a senior. I believe he had a kid then and wanted to be away from the distractions of Dinkytown. Heard nothing but good things about him.

Is it dusty in here or something? I think there is something in my eyes. +100. Way to step of MG. Ski-U-Mah!

Very cool. It amazes me how harsh people are now. My parents would (and did) make me go to anyone's party I was invited to...and it was mandatory that I invited that person to my next one. It's a great gesture by the people who showed up and supported this girl, hopefully the parents of her classmates learned a thing or two.

Same here. I couldn't have imagined not going, even if I really didn't want to.

The only thing I can think of is she gave the invitations directly to the kids and they didn't tell their parents?

I try not to judge the actions of the kids too harshly. When I was 10 I wasn't close to being friends with all the kids in my class. If a kid that was aloof or a bit "weird" (how many kids really know what a development problem is?) I probably wouldn't have gone either. Bottom line is that we don't know the whole situation and it isn't fair to judge 10 year olds to the standards of adults. But kudos to the community for stepping up. That was beautiful.

My parents would have made me go.

Thanks for posting GL.

For all of us who interacted with Q, this is not surprising. Q is a good dude. He did everything right while he was here, he has an NFL career, he was the perfect teammate. He also was a huge reason why we beat Iowa. Anyone who does that, will always be good in my book.

I saw Q at the Eagan outlet mall a few weeks ago. Man is he big. He seems like such a nice guy, was going to go up and get a picture with him but I chickened out.

Sigh, I clearly have no future as a paparazzi.
