Mara Braun re-broke the same bone in her right foot, according to head coach Dawn Plitzuweit.

Do the NET rankings use margin of victory as part of the ranking process? If so, that could lead to coaches that expect their team to be on the NCAA bubble to play starters longer to build larger margins of victory - despite already having a win in hand. Doesn't exactly promote player overall health/safety.

Yes, that is one of the factors. In addition to potentially causing injury to your starters, it leads coaches to give the bench less developmental minutes. So, after those same starters get tired or hurt, the coach needs to bring in the bench players, but they have not had the exposure that they could have. All because of NET.

with the team doing as well as they are, I fully expect Mara Braun to be back this season. She wants that NCAA tournament. Anyone have any guesses when that may be?

I hope she doesn't come back. Why waste a whole year of eligibility for just a handful of games? If she sits out, she will have two more years to play with Grace, Tori, Nia, McKenna, Taylor, and whoever else they bring in.

I’ve heard regardless they will apply for a redshirt. They can use the miss time from last year and this year.

Wouldn't having Mara back give us better chance at a higher seed and maybe winning a game (or more) in the NCAA tournament? Obviously if there is any risk of her foot not being fully healed it is a moot question.
