It has begun. Play-in games, random foreign heads of government, god bless this month.

And we've got all ball game. Was 16 pt game 2 minutes ago, now 3. TruTV!

Everyone here should send negative vibes at BYU so that I get extra credit in two of my classes when they lose. Sound good to you guys?

Excellent game! That kid needed to kick that rebound out. Looked like Martell.

I think even we couldn't have choked that bad :)

Another huge comeback in game 2. BYU down 2 after being down 25 in the first half

Nooooooooooo. There goes my extra credit :(

The only good reason for the leaders of the free world to have been at that game last night was to scold the NCAA for this "first round" nonsense. I wonder if Obama tried to explain to the PM why there are 68 teams in the tournament.

On to the... round of 64?... we go.

Of course I couldn't resist watching it, but I think Western Kentucky and Mississippi Valley State were 2 of the worst #16/17 seeds I've ever seen. That was bad basketball at its finest, but at least it was entertainingly bad. How does one commit 28 turnovers and still win a basketball game? Both teams were turning it over like it was 7th grade girls' basketball.

I've heard numerous national media voices, in the last few days, mention how poor the quality of college basketball is now compared to 10-15 years ago.

With the "more the merrier" way of thinking that has taken over sports with regards to the # of teams qualifying for postseason tournaments/playoffs, at the bottom of every tournament/playoff format there's bound to be some junk, whether it be high school, college or professional. That certainly appears to be the case with WKU and MVSU.

That said, I actually think there's a couple of #15s (Lehigh and Detroit) and a #16 (UNC-Asheville) that have a chance to keep it competitive vs. some of the top seeds.

I'm guessing that in a class giving extra credit for March Madness, you'll still be fine.

Ya I'll be fine, but it would have made up for me missing a quiz. My professor went to Utah and really wanted BYU to lose. Also giving extra credit to anyone who beats him in the bracket challenge. He's a first time teacher so I see it as his way of trying to connect with the class (I go to a small school nnd this is deemed as important).

That second set of afternoon games could be a doozy. For your viewing pleasure, ken pom used his mathmaticallness to pick the likely most thrilling games (close score plus fast pace.) UCONN, WVU, LBSU, BYU, and Harvard are favored in the most likely thrilling games.

...then my bracket will be hurting because I only picked LBSU out of that list.

This has been a pretty boring start to the day. No real close games at all.

If it's possible to hate Syracuse any more, this would do it.

I already hated Syracuse with quite a bit of ferocity, so for me, this doesn't really change anything. And as I stated in another thread, I'm not usually one to harp on bad officiating. But good lord, that was completely horrendous. How those three guys could miss some of those calls is frankly beyond me.

It makes you go, hmmm...

The fighting Monson's aren't looking good at the moment. Down 5, three to play.

Frastrating to see Alford now reach the 2nd round twice at New Mexico.

Wow, Robert Sacre of Gonzaga is a different kind of basketball player. Big 7 footer defending out on the perimeter pretty well. I remember watching him last week defending and shutting down the other teams PG. Impressive.
