Legends and Leaders

Each of the twelve institutions have a graphic arts/design program. I'm guessing ten out of the twelve departments could scrape together a better logo within a week (nobody wants ears of corn in the logo, sorry Iowa and Neb).

Corn fed Division vs Grass fed Division would have been better.

Another thing, they start with the same letter, so this complicates abbreviation. If it were the East and West, we could say B10-E and B10-W. But we can't say B10-L and B10-L. We can't even say B10-LE and B10-LE, they start with the same two letters. Once you type B10-LEG, you might as well type out the whole name.

The big 10 comes to us with this, and I respond, "no thanks." The media will have to use these names but we will never have to. So what are we going to call them? We should coordinate with the other message boards around the conference to come up with some better, informal names to actually use in conversation.

Grain Belt and Rust Belt.

If you haven't done your Homework you might not like these divison names. Maturi (and Delaney too apparently) did his homework...

A missed opportunity:

Switch wisconsin and Northwestern.... that gives you the Paul Bunyan Division (MN, wi, MI, MSU) and the Johnny Appleseed Division (whose legend is based in Ohio, Indiana, and Illinois).

Another word for "Leader" = "Head"
Another word for "Legend" = "Tale"

Heads and Tales.

I'm in favor of "Six of One" and "Half Dozen Of The Other" for the division names.
