I guess that's what happens when you start the season ranked and have to prove you're not worthy vs. having to go 7-0 to get a whiff at the rankings.
 



Well SEC only plays 8 conference games, so that's 5 less Power 5/4 games. That has always bothered me, with their 8 conference game schedule.
 


I saw it on X this morning. Someone in the comment section quickly pointed out that it shorted Penn State some wins, so it's not perfect. Still, it points out that teams like A&M, Miami, USC and others have spent a lot of time ranked early in the season on reputation only to eventually get dropped.

The Gophs have a had a few chances to get ranked the past few years before peeing down their leg in crucial times. Case in point Rutgers this year.

Even Nebraska appeared in two different years, including a preseason rank coming off back to back four win seasons.

You got it, I don’t think they ever got a vote last year. Not saying they should have been ranked, but a couple stray votes were warranted.

Texas A&M really stands out, especially the last 3 seasons. They had a total of 11 P4/P5 wins in 2022-24 while being ranked 19 weeks.
 

The 2021 season set the Gophs back in terms of reputation. Still riding the 2019 waves coming out of COVID, that 2021 team was ranked in the pre-season and had the talent to compete with the best. A ton of key injuries and head scratching loss to Bowling Green eliminated any goodwill they built going into the season. It's been up an up hill climb since then.

They need another big season to build some trust among the pundits.

I think 2022 hurt more in terms of the polls not buying Minnesota right away. The Gophers started 4-0, outscoring opponents 183-24. They went in ranked No. 21 Vs. Purdue for homecoming and dropped it. I think that's the last time the team has been ranked.
 

Context I think would be needed and/or some
Validation before I’m buying 100% into this. I don’t know how we could have the 12 most wins of this type and have been to shitty bowls post 2019 every year? The second column seems to be an indictment of something – – PJ‘s reputation countrywide?

So, why don't you supply some 'context'? Please elaborate. I'm willing to listen.

As far as validation is concerned, it wouldn't take much time to fact-check these win numbers.

Nope. Take a look at the schedules since 2021 and tell me where the Gophers should have been ranked where they weren't. I think they got ranked in 2021 before the Illinois game then lost. In 2022, I believe they got ranked after smashing MSU then lost to Purdue. In 2024, they would have been ranked if not for losing at freaking Rutgers. They have just been inconsistent and hadn't had a breakout year since 2019 to attract any pre-season rankings.

Well if just threw out a number like 75 as being your IQ I could be asked to provide some context on how I gathered that info, et al. I could provide context here as I’ve read your posts for some time and it’s obvious.
