Kudos to Adam Weber from a Hawkeyes

I'll give you that.. If Leach is brought in here.. I wouldn't be surprised to see Web's record broken in the next 5 years. I was gonna say 2, but I don't think Gray could average over 5,000 yards a season even with Leach. With all due respect to both.

And how would Weber do if Leach had been the coach?

Probably neither incompetent nor inept.

Simply not a very good Big 10 QB - save for those that enjoy statistics.

Yesterday were prime examples, again - balls in the dirt, low and outside, thwoing into triple coverage, not getting rid of the ball in the endzone.

You can have all the stats you want. Give me Tolzien and wins.

I agree, Weber has been in a tough spot for his college career. The changing coordinators and offensive systems have made it hard to generate any long term chemistry with receivers and running certain routes. However, Weber can be very inconsistent with his accuracy of passes. For my self as a fan this was most evident on Saturday.
1) Threw a great ball to McKnight on the first touchdown pass. To me as a fan that was as close to a perfect pitch and catch as possible.

2) Next drive, second down, Uire (sp) is wide open in the flat but the pass is low on wide. The TE makes a diving catch for probably a four yard gain. If the TE could have caught the ball and turned up field he would have probably gotten 15-20 yards of YAC and would of had a first down for sure. As it turned out the team couldn't generate a first down on the next play and the drive was stalled.

All QB's are inconsistent that is why (60-65%) is a good completion percentage in high level football. What makes it more maddening with Weber is the fact that he throws a great deep ball, but a poor short ball.

I don't know if I wish Weber would have transferred (for his sake) early in his career knowing how it would turn out from a coaching standpoint, but I have to assume he earned his starting position and continued to earn it during practice. I'll respect Weber for his leadership as the face of the program during this difficult time, I'll wonder how good he could have been in an environment with stable coaches, and I"ll continue to assign what I feel is an appropriate level of responsibility for the failure of this team. I wish him success in his life post gophers.

If Weber was so good then how come he always looks like the Inferior QB against any team we play? Of his 40 or so starts tell me how many times realistically was he the better QB on the field? What...maybe 3 times? How many younger & more inexperienced QB's has Weber made look good? That's my point...throw the numbers out...throw the wins & losses out & tell me which games Weber looked like the better QB in all these years...you'll be lucky to find 10...out of 40 or so isn't good considering how many 2nd & 3rd String & 1st Year starters he's went up against...

I'm not defending Weber with this, but you already know the answer to the question. The other QB gets to play against our defense. The same D's that have been the worst-close to the worst-really, really close to the worst-and slightly above average. Not even close to a fair argument.

I feel like this is accurate. Weber has made obvious mistakes and cannot be considered one of the best QBs to ever play in the Big10 Conference but his career would looks much better if the Gopher defense was mediocre during his tenure.

Well, here we go again -- everyone wants to rip Weber some more on here. It's really low class by you guys to just continue to rip Weber on the message board like this.

Thanks PapaHawk - I agree that 10,000 yards and several all-time records are quite an achievement for Adam, and although it would have been nice to win more games while he was here, he did the best he could and gave Gopher fans SOMETHING to be happy about the last 4 years.

4 years of frustration and being inconsistent more like it! Thats how I have felt. I guess guys like Gold Rush, etc, have accepted losing and are ok with it being the norm. Well I'm not! Not only this year but the last couple years a lot of the yards, td's, etc, have came during junk time. Only reasons Weber is still a starting QB is Horton is a moron and doesn't care about the future of our program and we are slim at the wr position besides Mcknight and Gray. Otherwise Gray would be in for sure at least getting some snaps. Just frustrated with the madness. But I guess losing is ok to and accepted to some people now.........

I mean in the sense of being more accurate, not overthrowing receivers on a consistent basis, staring down 1 receiver or throwing the ball at peoples feet...not to mention happy feet...
