Knicks fire Thibs!

I'm catching up to listening to the Dan Patrick Show from Wednesday after the firing. There were 2 startling facts:

- KAT only had 1 blocked shot in the Pacers series. Wow.

- Thibs gets a $30M buyout. Righteous bucks.
This is not a shot at you but it's just an observation. I've never seen a guy come under so much heat while producing like he has.

In that series, he averaged 25 points (on 17 shots) with 12 rebounds. He wasn't a good defensive player but he did slightly more than Pascal Siakam and drastically outplayed Myles Turner - who has become a perimeter player on offense.

He is essentially the big man version of Brunson. They are both very good offensive players and flawed defensive players.

I'm as guilty of this as anyone but I wonder how much of KATs quirks make his imperfections more annoying? KAT seems like a good guy but he is awkward and has an unusual personality for a basketball player, I wonder how much of it is makes all of us (myself strongly included) more critical of him.

I can't disagree with anything you have stated, I think you have nailed it.

The "wow" factor comment from me was how a 7 ft guy playing as many minutes as KAT did, does even accidently block 4-5 shots (total) in a 6 game series, even if it's completely accepted that he not at all a rim protector.
