tweet from kirksey tonight >>JUST GOT A PHONE CALL FROM MY COACH I SEE THE NEW YEAR STILL GON HAVE BITCH NIGGAS AND SNITCHES IN IT. #SMH #ONEOFMYFOLLOWERS FFUUCCKK YOU!!<<

Decent chance he gets a second call from his coach. That can't be much better than what elicited the first call.

If this is what it appears, sounds like someone called one of the coaches and said your guy Kirksey is doing something. Followed by a call to him from the coach. If so, it could be the best sign yet about the new coaching staff. Apparently they are going to be a little more hands-on about discipline and personal responsibility. If I read this right, the tweet calls for a second phone call and my guess is he will get it. Kill spoke about commitment and if someone like Kirksey has to be made an example to make the point they are serious? So be it. Again, this is reading a lot into a tweet, but...

Social Networking - What a wonderful tool. How did we get along without it.

I would rather have him complaining about the phone call than getting caught for doing whatever he was going to do.

You suppose the Coaching staff has already been informed who is the most likely to get into trouble?

What else can you say about Brew, he was an awesome coach and could obviously identify players that would make great captains

This has 'example in waiting' written all over it.

Welcome to real life as an adult. If he can't handle keeping his nose clean and not getting in trouble Coach Kill will be happy to give him a 'come to Jesus' moment where he can decide if he wants to play in the Big Ten or if a Juco is more his speed.

I don't even blame Kirksey for thinking this. Think back to when you were his age- it was never your fault! The stupidity is in using Twitter. Bitch to your roommate, not to the world.

If I were Kill, my message to the kids would be just that. You want to play in the pros? You want to get a job? You might want to think twice about airing these things for everyone. If you put it on the internet, it is there for good. Hell, look at Arian Foster. He wasn't drafted not because he wasn't good enough, but because he was deemed uncoachable. He is an elite player and he lost millions of dollars because he was a prima donna. Someone like Kirksey has an even smaller margin for error.

This idiot has the ability to play football on Sundays, he should be thanking God he has a coach who wants to help get him there. Perhaps he should be looking at the New Year as a time to change his ways a bit instead of bitching about being called out.

Can someone translate that? I'm 28 years old and apparently out of touch with today's youth.

Wow, I guess we have different outlooks on life. If Kirksey can't take correction with a "Yes sir," and mean it, then he can go home and get a job at Popeye's in Saint Louis. And he'll probably get fired from that, too.

What a Captain. Dont think he will hold that honor next year.

I had to read it a couple of times before I understood it. Looks like he is sending a message to a specific individual. I guess Twitter is how you do that these days.

What's the big deal? Gopherfaith and I say this to each other every night before we go to bed.

I agree. It reads like he's not pissed at his coach, he's pissed at someone selling him out. If all of this is even real.

Give the kid a break. He was right in the middle of prepping for his Advanced Quantum Electrodynamics course next semester and he was stressed out. What budding young physicist has that not happened to?

Some of these comments are comedic gold! lol

That said.. From his attitude, I wouldn't shed a damn tear if Kirksey was booted from the team.

You were never upset when corrected? You don't gripe to your wife after your boss comes down on you at work? Life as a saint must be nice.

Eh? You are justifying Kirk's tweet and taking your aggressions out on your wife? Dude, just because you do it, or you have been known to do it.. Doesn't make it right.

Kirksey was in the wrong. And so is griping to your wife after getting the 3rd degree from your boss. It's not her fault your boss is up in you grill.

Worst justification I have ever seen, man.

It would be great if you actually processed what I wrote rather than spouting off. However, sometimes you can't see the whole picture when you are looking down your nose.

1. I specifically said the tweet was stupid. No other way to slice it.
2. If you really expect kids to not be upset when called out by a coach, then you are dreaming. On the field, that anger is part of what drives them and part of the reason that coaches do it. If you don't understand that, then it is clear that you have never played the game at a high level or coached at all.
3. I ask again: you don't vent when your wife asks you how your day was after a tough one? I'm not saying hit her, just gripe. If so, you are a fantastic company man who I would love to hire. Your wife must be a happy woman as well.
4. No justification. Just understanding. It is obvious that you have never worked with kids.

What an embarrassment. This guy is a captain? Oh, and I guess because he's African-American he can throw the N-word around and nobody cares but if someone like Weber were to do so it would be front page news on every website and Weber would be have to move to the same remote island with Steve Bartman.
