per these tweets from Joe Schmit:

"Jerry Kill #Gophers spoke to record crowd at Dunkers. Broke old record held by Walter Cronkite. #andthatsthewayitis"

"Kill said he needs 4recruiting classes to change the Gophers culture and last years did not count."

"Kill also said he has 63 players they have to check on daily to make sure they are going to class. That number should be 15."

"More Kill:We have a soft culture.Tough times are for tough people and I am am a tough person."

"Kill says he told new U Prez I need your help. He said Prez is all in and understands the programs issues."

Go Gophers!!

63 players need daily checks for class? Holy crap.

I am totally drinking the Kool-Aid with Jerry Kill. Partly because there is no proof to not believe the guy. Since 1970 we have had 8 seasons where we finished 2 or more games over .500 and only 5 times has our B1G record been over .500.

How are all our players so weak and unskilled when they’re also not even going to class? What exactly do they DO all day!?

I believe this to be true. Not only from a mental/character/"man" issue, but physically, too. I was at the Purdue game, and based on my vantage point near field level, I can tell you that there is a notable physical differential between our lads and the opponent(s). Undoubtedly, this is a product of playing many, many, undeclassmen, which is a function of some horrible attrition/previous recruiting disasters/bad head coaching decisions which we have been saddled with thanks to, and another function of, the previous regime and current athletic "administration".

Brace yourselves and bow your necks, my fellows and Golden Gopher faithful - this IS going to take time. What we must look for is an upward trajectory - meaning 1 or 2 wins this year, 3-4 in '12, etc..

"The truth will set you free."

Jerry Kill is going around Joel Maturi now, even he must be understanding the sure incompetence of our AD. I hope for the sanity of the fans and boosters that Kaler fires Maturi after the next 2-3 loses or asap.

I have a few friends that go to class with some of these guys and they said some of these guys are the most unintelligent people they have ever met. I will not name names, but they said they dont not deserve to go to the U according to there academic abilities.

I saw it in the Michigan game. Basic fundamentals of blocking were being followed, but we were manhandled. Those kids were beat up.

When you have your running backs running into the backs of the O-Line, you're being dominated. Pre-Brewster, we were the ones putting the hurt on our opponents. At this point, we're being pummeled. One day, we'll recover from the "Brewster-era", but it will take a long time.

Anyone else see the irony in that sentence?

"I'm going to need four full years to turn this around, oh and every kid that I DIDN'T recruit is a lazy, no account. So, you know, losing with any of these guys still on the roster isn't my fault."

Everyone was right, he's REALLY the anti-Brewster. He's not only not talking about a Rose Bowl, he's setting up expectations. Those expectations are four years of bad football.

Yeah, Jerry's turning-out to be a real stand-up guy.

When I was in college, I didn't spend too much time evaluating my fellow students' academic capacities, I focused on my own work. There can be a tendency to look at athletes through a "dumb jock" colored lenses.

I think every day we are learning more and more about this program that helps us realize why the football team is in shambles. Its unbelievable that there are 63 players that need to be babysat and have to be monitored to go to class. Its no wonder that this team is so undisciplined. How am I to believe that these players that can't make the commitment to go to class aren't also failing to make a full commitment to this football team. I'm not sure that the excuse of not going to class because I was in my dorm room studying the playbook applies too often. But I'm sure their hand/eye coordination via Madden 2012 on PS3 is amazing.

You don't feel concerned that brewster AND badger joel macturi allowed all those academic problems to thrive and exist keflivik?????

When they start booing badger joel freaking macturi if he appears on the jumbo don't be surprised. But, IF bjm, his public relations guy and his goon squad try to get cute and try to shield this poor excuse for an ad on Game Day Saturdays, my hunch is that those who are in the student section will not miss the opportunity to call for the removal of badger joel from his office at the U sooner rather than late any way. You see, keflivik: SOMEBODY has to pay for what was allowed to happen to the football program at the U during the past four years. This year it is finally bjm's turn to be roasted, bashed, mobbed and thrown under the bus. He will get what he has had coming for a LONG time as the weather cools down and the losses mount. It's inevitable. Someone in the crowd is just going to get the fun started...and, eventually, it will take on a life of it's own. The little ranger can just pretend that they are yelling "booyah..." whenever his name is mentioned.

IF prexy k is smart, he will remove bjm mid-football season just the way that brewster was run out of town on a rail in 2010.

So, you are part of the anti-Kill crowd kfelivik????? It certainly appears that way. Interesting...

Are you trying to type Keflavik?

Nothing wrong with setting year 5 as the benchmark, most coaches deserve/need that.

Don't put words into his mouth, he's telling it how it is, no smoke, no internalization of the problems, you think he's ok with the losing?

It's obvious there were things going on here that have nothing to do with Kill, nothing to do with coaching. You think he's lying about everything to ease the pressure on him?

If there were 20 something kids failing out when he got here, and 63 now that STILL need checking to make sure they're in class, what does that say about their discipline and mindset going into practice and the games, they're probably overwhelmed with the fact that they have to go to class during the season, maybe that's the real reason we showed so well at USC, there was no class until the NMSU week.

.

The Truth hurts.

I think what we're seeing is what even just 2-3 years of mismanagement can actually do to a football program. Its not
QUITE the impact of a 2-year death penalty, but its not far from that. It doesn't take a whole lot to put a program behind
the eighth ball.

No gold vision:

Keflavik is a little town in Southwest Iceland with a population of about 13,000. keflivik is term that has been invented to be paired with a moniker depicting the iceland12, a frozen dinner entre featuring a dozen cod fillets. In Norway they call it "Norske-torskY..." It is not too popular any longer since "supersizing" of meals is not as healthy as it should be. It has pretty much been replaced by "iceland6 on a stick" which is half a dozen formed cod pieces glued on individual popsicle sticks. This delacy needs no refrigeration and is pretty much is spoil-proof due to the vast quantities of lye that preserve the cod pieces.

Year 1 of his 4 recruiting cycles is not off to a good start so far and has the potential to get worse. I would be pleasantly suprised if some of his current commits don't decommit as the team continues to lose and options open for them at better programs who don't get their A recruits and start offering or pursuing their plan B guys.

63 players need daily checks for class? Holy crap.

No wonder he's not getting anything done. 63 players, at 15 credits a semester (so approx. 5 classes?)...He'd be spending most of the day contacting players to check in with them. That's just disgusting. No wonder we stink, the coach is a babysitter most of the day.

To the players on the roster that aren't on that crap list, get involved. Know a guy in your class that has attendance issues? Get on his case, contact him. Walk to class with him. Know a guy that has a class in the same building at the same time? Do the same thing.

There is no definition of the four year turn around. Kill might mean 8-4,9-3 or he might mean 6-6. We don't know. Kill might not consider a bowl game in next year or 2013 as having it turned around.

#1 in the foundation has to be your own state. I think Kill is doing very well for this class if that is the goal of setting the foundation. We'll see.
