other than Eric Murray.

Here are my notes, not verbatim, as usual...

Jerry Kill:
• Ball security - you work on that and talk to them every day. That's something, turnovers, if we turn over the ball against Northwestern, we won't win the game.
• There better be some excitement because we're going to play the 16th ranked team in the country. We're 3-1, but I don't think sometimes we feel like we're 3-1. We're just like anybody, there's a lot of people decimated by injuries, and we've been hit…hard.
• On not feeling 3-1 - the nature of it, we didn't blow them out, it's part of life. It hasn't always been pretty, but that's where we're at. We got better of offense, the defense hung in there, we were just horrible on special teams.
• Shannon Brooks - we knew he was good coming in, he had a chance to play, we probably should have played him earlier. Good things ahead there.
• As Maroney said - it's 60 minutes.
• O-line played better, we still have work to do there. The same 5 played last week, and will play this week.
• Our whole secondary is a question mark, other than Eric Murray.
• Boddy-Calhoun won't have surgery.
• I don't think I realized how young of an offensive group we had
• I think everything is wide open in college football. Anything can happen on any given Saturday. The team that can stay the healthiest will have the opportunity to win.
• This is the most athletic group they've had on D, they are strong and smart. NU is very high academic school, that's why they don't make many mistakes, you can not turn it over against them.
• Drew Wolitarsky will play on Saturday, he practiced on Sunday, it wasn't a major situation.

Tracy Claeys:
• We won't do anything special, they're a no huddle team, there's no secret…they've been consistent. How you defend what they do will be consistent with that too. We're going back to a no huddle team that plays 4-5 personnel groups.
• On being this injured this early - it's really about taking the healthy guys that are there, that they do what they do best. You lost 3 starters…and playing the 15th team in the country…find the best chance to win.
• Well coached offenses don't turn the ball over much. If we get them, it's like Christmas.
• To be this injured, is this your worst nightmare? Claeys: No, my worst nightmare is to be 0-4.
Matt Limegrover:
• The Ohio game really helped us in a lot of ways.
• One of the big things is, to not be locked into one particular thing. One of the things we thought gave us an edge on Saturday, was 3 TE's in on a play, and switching that up. We ran a lot of the same plays upfront. We really emphasized the execution part of it.
• Shannon Brooks is an unflappable kid. If you didn't know he was a true freshmen, you wouldn't know. He wasn't any different in that locker room after the game, as he was before. That says a lot. There are some kids that have more talent than him, but the mental part and the maturity part hasn't caught up.
• Mitch did an outstanding job of seeing where he needed to go, or where he didn't need to go. He didn't wing it and take a chance.
• We won't beat Northwestern if we have the same production we had on Saturday, we need to execute better.
• The kids felt good going into this game, because there was some known there. Ohio is a real disciplined team, so we had a better idea of what they were going to be doing.
• You can't discount having a young kid having a little bit of success, how far that goes with their mindset, I guarantee he'll have a little snap in his step - on Gentry. He had a smile on his face and was feeling good.
• On Offensive line - Believe it or not, after the game, I said we still have a lot of miles to go. The idea that we had 5 guys that were able to get in there and play, getting Foster Bush in there, there wasn't a drop off, he jumped in there for a couple plays.
• Adam Weber has a great way with the quarterbacks, as the grad assistant. As that relationship grew, it helped Coach Z come back up to the box. He's sitting right beside me.

Shots fired?

Naw. Kill and Co. often will take the hit and the blame for dork ups. They don't publicly blame players for on the field screw ups, at least not obviously. If **** happens they take it. More of a "hey this is our deal, don't take it out on the kid" kind of thing.

Didn't mean to imply he was blaming the players. Just thought the wording was a bit curious. Well coached offenses don't turn the ball over much - considering the issues our offense has had with turnovers. Most likely he was just praising Ohio/Solich.

Our offense didn't turn the ball over against Ohio.

EDIT: Nevermind, I see your point now.

Thanks, Nadine . . . well done!

Go Gophers!!

I Thought most interesting comment was Limegrover talking about how coach Z was up in the box making suggestions for pass plays. Sounds he's willing to listen to other ideas.
