Read some more about this. It's a big deal in Russia. They're cracking down on athletes who try to use tricks or loopholes to avoid military service. Russian army needs reinforcements......

Heck, I look at this as a great opportunity for U.S.A. to add Krill to the roster for the 2026 Olympics since The Thrill may never be allowed back in Russia, for fear of "falling out of a window" or suffering from "food poisoning."

Go Krill the Thrill!!

Time to get creative and ask for Asylum due to an illegal war that he refuses to be a part of.

He should have done that on February 25. Not only did he not apply for asylum during the season, he went back to Russia at the end.

Hope he likes life as cannon fodder.

Not so sure it’s about reinforcements but more about not letting your top hockey to talent to leave and play in the nhl. I read that the goalie fro Philly that was the first one stopped is playing for a team while in the military. Russians were always a big risk to draft now they became undraftable as you may never get them over here to play.

will be interesting to see if this impacts the NHL draft tonight.

just on a quick look, I found several Russians among the top 100 draft-eligible prospects according to ESPN. I think the highest-rated was at #13 - so a projected 1st-round pick.
