Justin Walley

Agreed- nice to see one of the defensive youngsters contribute!

Mr. Mississippi could easily become the second version of Mr. Minnesota. I think Kirby would be ok with it if Walley shows out like he did today and continues to improve. NFL talent.

Or maybe — if we're somehow extremely lucky — the second version of #11, Antoine Winfield, Jr.?

I agree: Walley looked great. He 'flashed', as they say. That's for sure.

A few guys on D flying around. Maybe its coming together.

I like it. Great minds think alike. Antoine is one of those one in a million intelillgence and instinct, Walley looks similar (I won't annoint him yet), but you have a great point.

Spot on! "Flying around" is the absolutely perfect descriptive phrase!

Point: Players simply don't/can't play like that unless they are confident in what they're doing. Tentative players don't "fly around".

The fact that the Gophers did cut it loose today is, I would say, a credit to the coaching staff. With all the talk about how crappy the defense had been to date, the kids simply decided to put that behind them and DOMINATE today.

Well done.

I agree about not anointing him just yet, because Antoine Winfield, Jr. just might be the greatest Gopher football player I ever saw, in person.

By definition, it's hard to equal that.

It took this long for the team to get its sealegs. PJ Fleck knows how to build upon the narratives to get the team motivated.

I had a feeling he could easily be a better player than Avante Dickerson, the DB recruit that flipped away from us.
If Dickerson had decided to stick around, who knows how good the secondary would have been.

Dickerson could just as easily be a bust as well who never sees the field for Oregon.

Meanwhile, Walley is making an impact in game 3 of the season for the Gophers.

Too bad he stumbled on the one deep ball, if he keeps his footing the whole time he probably picks that ball off. He looked really good, of course everyone on the defense looked really good today.

After three games, I am impressed with this Gopher team. They continue to improve.

If they go very far in the season and win the Big Ten West title, tOSU will be facing a more experienced Gopher team. It is a big if. We have a full season of football left.

You think Ohio State wins the East?

I ha e not seen Michigan yet, but PSU is looking very impressive

Rewatching the game. He looks like the real deal. That hit he put on the reciever in the 2nd quarter is something that has been missing. He will hopefully build on that game and be a force in the conference moving forward.

And he is a Freshman, which is even more impressive. Have had too many timid and out of position CB's over the last 20 yrs, looking great so far, hope he continues to progress.

PSU was dominated by Wisconsin. The badgers losing that game was very Viking like.
This. Auburn isn't that good and PSU was incredibly lucky to beat Wisconsin.

I do. They play at Ohio State at the end of October. They have to go to Iowa, to Ohio State, and to Michigan State. Ohio State's only tough road match is @Michigan. They also don't play Iowa or Wisconsin.

Not only do I think Ohio State has about the same as Penn State, but they have an easier schedule and they are playing younger people at important positions.

I agree that Auburn likely isn't that good, but I wouldn't call that game against Wisconsin a domination by the Badgers.

Wisconsin held a huge time of possession advantage but despite that, they only out-gained Penn St by about 60 yards. When Penn St scored, they scored quickly. Their longest scoring drive of the game was 2:10.

I don't know if I'd call it domination, but I would say they were extremely lucky to beat WI.

They were outgained (by a little), WI crushed them on TOP, and WI had 4 scoreless trips inside the Penn State 25 and three inside the Penn State 10. This made me absolutely giddy, but I didn't come out of it thinking that Penn State looked fantastic.

This is weird
