Down goes number 1. Justin Cobbs win it for California with a go ahead bucket with 0.9 seconds left.

2015 recruit Alex Illikainen was at the game and witnessed them take down number 1 team in country, while the gophers lose at home to northwestern, great day for us gopher hoops fan huh....

salt in the wound. What an awful day.

Again we are back to whether the refs should call a technical on the dumbass fans for rushing the court with time remaining on the clock.

He also saw us take down IU last year, and the Big 3 plus Henry were here to see us beat Sparty and that clearly worked out

More than that, it should have been a technical for the California bench players coming onto the floor with time left. It wasn't like they took a step onto the floor either, it was several steps. If I am Arizona and I see that I would catch the ball near their bench and run right into them. Heck, even if you don't get the ball, just run right at them and trip over one of the players. A technical would have to be called at that point.

Why not just throw the inbound pass at them. Need to hit them of course.

He was not a B1G player.

I respectfully disagree. Cobbs would have been just fine in the Big Ten.

He was solid as a freshman, and showed promise. Problem is, in this "I want it now" world of school message boards, because he didn't light the world on fire as a freshman that meant (to the impatient folks) he wasn't any good. Not saying I knew he'd be as good as he's been at Cal, but was disappointed when he left Minnesota.

Cobbs

Cobbs didn't look good as a freshmen as Mn because he played with the second 5 in Tubby's famous hockey substitutions. Many of Tubby's recruits just flat out prospered in other places and we all need to determine for ourselves why that is? Why did all four guys become all conference when they left (Cobbs, Joseph, Iverson, White)?

My apologies to Costa Rica if that's the case. Can't always determine sarcasm on the Internet!

I certainly understand that, SS. Sarcasm is NOT allowed on GH. Only honesty and fact based opinions!!!

That is why GopherHole is so much fun, agree?

I'll say it.....

Could you imagine him in Pitino's system!!!!!????!!!!!

:p <===== Tongue in cheek.

Cobbs is allowed considerable room to run the offense and also look for his own shot. The pg in our previous system had few places to find open teammates and struggled in the big ten, this is why i think Nolen was all the more under-rated. He would drive and force fouls when no one was open all the time. This is also one of the under-rated things Dre Hollins does, he gets trips to the line when the offensive play falls apart.

Incoming freshmen think they can rule the B1G. fans have unrealistic expectations of incoming freshmen. The kid has or not, expectations are unrealistic. Tubby could have used Cobbs differently, maybe. But, Cobbs did not mature till he grew up a little. It's too bad he grew up at Cal instead of Minnesota.

I tend to be more patient than the average fan but it is very true on this board, the number of players who don't deserve to be on a big ten team list includes about every one of our players by now. LOL.
It is like expecting a recuit like Oto to replace HOff's 3pt shooting as a freshmen or ever. Hoff is one of the best gopher shooters in history. I still cannot find a recruiting write up that said Oto was a great 3pt shooter when we recruited him, I think we just assumed. The same with Austin, his dad was a great 3pt shooter so we thought he would be?
