The premier Minnesota recruiting event of the summer happens this weekend: the annual Kill Recruiting BBQ. More than any other activity, sans camps, the BBQ is the staff's chance to bring talented prospects on campus to hang out with coaches, eat some pork butt and spend time with other targets. Many other Power5 schools have similar events (Michigan and Auburn's Big Cat Weekend come to mind) and the one's that don't, well, I'd say get on that but I'm competitive and hate everyone else.

It sure does feel like MV's using his occasional TDG article to pimp traffic to his buddies at 247. MV was always a very insightful poster at GI, but the guys behind 247 were never more than average posters & their opinions never meant much. He literally can not put out an article now without shamelessly plugging his boys. Must have been a yucky breakup with GI.

or maybe it's ok to have multiple sites covering the team. Apparently you feel the need to criticize the guys at 247 for... What exactly? Having the desire and initiative to start another Gopher site?

Fortunately for GH, we're all thoughtful and intelligent posters who seldom disagree and when we do it is always with the upmost respect for one another and MV probably could not handle it so he picked up his ball and... what were we talking about?
 

Am I the only one questioning Ryan Burns right now? Taking twenty headshots of underage guys seems a little weird.

Am I the only one getting a little tired of the Charlie Rodgers waiting game? He passed on the U in favor of Iowa St. the first time around. Now he's been sitting on an offer from the U & dragging his feet. His Mom said he should have come to the U the first time around like she told him to, still nothing. Ray Buford took 4 seconds to commit, Rodgers is still looking at his options.

I know they're your friends so you're obviously a feeling a little protective. I never said it wasn't ok to have multiple sites, in fact we're on one right now. I'm talking about constantly pimping one over all others. Just saying, he wrote articles forever & never felt the need to promote other websites, but he literally can't write one now without mentioning 247.

Unfairly hate on them if you want, but imo the guys over at Gophers 24/7 are doing a fantastic job. They will be, and kind of already are, giving GH a run for it's money. GH has been without a real strong team coverage and message board forum competitor for far too long. Good to see more competition. I also wish the Minnesota Scout site luck and would like to see them pick up some more steam and additional users.

Feel that Gophers 24/7 is a great site and they have some really strong team and recruiting coverage. And their message board forum is much more conducive to legitimate football and basketball discussions compared to anything you can get here at Gopherhole. It is without most of the b.s. trollish behavior and characters that you often see in the forums here at GH. Their moderators are also far less petty than what you often see here at GH. Sorry, but it is true.

Highly recommend checking out Gophers 24/7, creating an account, and joining in over there frequently. No reason why you can't participate in multiple forums.

You could also say the same thing about The Daily Gopher site. I have enjoyed some very funny and insightful discussions there without the B.S. that is so often served up here. The problem is that the site doesn't have the ability to let people add additional discussion strings. Maybe that is a good thing?

Agree with you on The Daily Gopher. Can't believe I forgot to mention them. They are also doing a fantastic job with their Gopher sports and recruiting coverage and they write some REALLY, REALLY GOOD articles. Along with some really funny humor pieces. Kudos to the admins and writers on that site.

when articles were written before GI was alwas referenced. And I have plenty of love for GI as well. Plus 247 is newer so I think it's ok to promote them a bit. For the program overall having multiple strong sites is a positive IMO.
 


You do realize that most of these sites are run by college students looking to make a little income?

I am dying to hear actual news about the BBQ. We've had everything but in the last few hours.
