Josh Martin Updates Thread - 1/4: Records third triple double of the season

Martin had 25 points, 18 rebounds, and 6 steals last night.

You could lock Miles in a gym by himself for 2 hours and he couldn't score 34 points. He would get some offensive boards...

I think I saw somewhere that he averaged 11 and 8 last year? 12 and 9? Something like that.

12 ppg, 8 rpg last season for Martin.
* Keep in mind that two D1-bound seniors Zach Lavine (UCLA freshman star and future top 10 NBA pick according to some experts) and Perrion Callandret (impact player for Idaho this year) were running the show last year.

This year as the main guy- 29.33 ppg, 16.33 rpg (I'd expect his ranking to skyrocket if this keeps up)

I'm glad basketball has an early signing period.

All of the poaching and shuffling that goes on in college FB recruiting during/after those guys' senior seasons is really annoying unless your team is at the top of the heap.

He's been a monster through 4 games. If he keeps this up, he was definitely a steal.

Everything I'm about to mention really is worth a hill of beans if the kid isn't talented, but I think we've established that he has some talent and size.

What I see from him on social media and interviews Martin want's to be a Gopher, and I love that about him. I find some of the things he says annoying every once in a while, but he is actively rooting for his university every time they are on TV. He often retweets Amilia or Gophernow tweets, reads Strib articles and comments on those, tweets at recruits and future teammates all the time. I'm very excited about the fact that he wants to be part of the rebuild, part of the journey and wants to be a big deal.

I am hoping his attitude meshes well with Coach P and we get a very active big man that we wanted. He seems to be gifted, and has, from a distance, the right attitude to succeed. Could be a fun kid to watch.

He's playing like his original ESPN 4-star ranking. Love this pick up.

Should it not be a bit concerning there team lost 92-44 with him scoring those 25? Is his team really that bad?

That's odd. However, I would be a lot more worried about that if he were the point guard. If you see a score like that- the guards got their clocks cleaned by a pressing team, more than likely.

I saw that too, they got smoked. Not sure how his presence in the paint could allow 92 pts.

While looking for a write up on his game last night, and pretty much anything mentioning how crazy his stat lines are looking, found this thread in their Prep Basketball forum. Mixed results on how bad Bothell is, but everyone agrees that Martin is the big cog on the team.

The squad they were playing that night is allegedly quite good and some claimed that Bothell was riding on low fuel after a tough emotional game before this contest.

I love Josh Martin.

"Josh Martin led Bothell with 30 points, while teammates Peyton Cordova-Smith (13), Josh Kollman (12), Ross Bowers (10) and Hunter Dean (10) all finished in double digits in scoring."

35 points and 19 rebounds last night... What?! This kid better be in the top 100 the next time ESPN updates their rankings!

When do they update it again, after the season is over? I know Martin hinted on twitter that he was motivated by their decision to drop him to a two star from a four star.

Prove it, thank you.

However, once it is official that anyone is coming to Minnesota, their stars drop. Stars are for lovers.
