Joseph out long-term?

I know Devoe is shooting 38.1% from 3 land, just shy of Hoff's 39.4%...but I'd like to see a breakdown of their misses and what percentage of each is rebounded by the other team.

I know I'm beating a dead horse, but I just can't get over how Devoe seems to decide before he crosses half-court that "I'm shooting on this play", and the team seems caught out of position or by surprise. On the other hand, Hoff's 3's seem to be more of an extension of the play that's being run.

Tubby is no nonsense when it comes to this stuff. My guess is if he is serious and it becomes a big part of the discussion, Tubby will tell him good luck and clean out your locker. Devoe is a nice piece of the puzzle, but it sounds to me he is all about himself. He is replaceable and it frees up a scholly.

Tweet from Myron:

"Devoe Joseph meeting with Tubby Smith today about his future with the program."

"Source: Joseph "serious" about quitting team and transferring to another school."

Go Gophers!!

Devoe meeting with Tubby seems to be the only 'hard' news here. Everything else - speculation.

It will be interesting to see what comes of this meeting.

If he did miss practice and didn't answer his phone for a while.... something seems wrong here. Maybe there is more to it than a guy not happy with playing time? As with any story like this... there is probably a lot of key info that will not be known by us...

This hurts us in the short term but in the long term we will be ok. Right now we don't have anyone but freshmen to fill in and you know freshmen make mistakes. Devoe was not quite as turnover prone as our freshman although the ill advised 3's are just as good as a turnover. He gave us some experience at the point and was a decent ball handler. The freshmen will need to step up and we will see some mistakes but eventually they will settle down and play decent for us.

Yeah...Ahamnisi looks fully prepared to contribute to at PG for a team hoping to make a deep NCAA run.

Sheesh. Take off the Maroon colored glasses.

Timeline:

1. Devoe suspended for undisclosed issues to start season. All speculation but "Bostick" type issues are referred to on this forum, along with grades.

2. Team has strong performance in PR.

3. Al Nolen has stress fracture type issues with foot, immediately thereafter;

4. Devoe rehabilitated to Tubby's good graces.

5. Team performance slips against inferior opponents. The hero of the Big 10 Tourney displays much of what frustrates fans (and presumably coaches) - cold streaks and forced shots; and little of what endeared him to fans (and presumably coaches) - hot streaks.

6. Nolen returns to lineup, Devoe returns to bench.

7. Devoe's performance continues in more limited role.

I surmise that in addition to the undisclosed issues, Devoe was becoming a cancer to the team. Notwithstanding, Tubby caved and brought him back on when it looked like Al might be out long term. Bringing back Devoe early probably exacerbated the problem with Devoe believing himself indispensable. Devoe's self perception and reality do not match up and it comes to head with him disliking coach, pissing off teammates, and Devoe looking for greener pastures.

Another tweet from Myron says devoe has been not attending practices. That'd likely get you in some trouble.

I heard he missed the last two. Seems like he is planning to transfer to me.

Tubby will slam the door in his face. Bye-bye.

Think you need to settle down. I never said anything about mav specifically but he could step in in limited bursts. Yes it would be rough for a while but the freshman would settle down eventually and be serviceable. I just think this would not be the biggest blow since Devoe has not been playin the best anyway. Had he been playin like he did last year I might be more concerned. Our freshman seem to have pretty good heads on their shoulders and have played fairly well so far so I am not as concerned as you seem to be. Don't recall who it was exactly but it was a freshman on friday who knew how much time was left on the shot clock and was able to get us some points before it got to 0. Seemed like that was a heads up thing for a freshman rather than not even being concerned about the shot clock. I think most freshman would have not even had even looked at the shot clock. The team will be ok with or without Devoe.

Tubby is the king, but I have questioned playing rodney over Devoe in the starting line up. Maybe Devoe was asked to be a scorer of the bench for the betterment of the team, but who know's??
