Joey Brackets' latest Bracketology

I'd take that game. We would beat them, they're nothing special. But I'd love to play as a higher seed.

Haha for such a Gopher pessimist you seem pretty confident in declaring a win over a top 25 team on their home turf.

I've watched Gonzaga play. They're not inspiring. Their not very athletic, and their defense isn't great. As long as we rebound, we'd win that game.

Lunardi's latest update (Jan. 16) has the Gophers as a #12 seed playing Stanford in a play-in game.

And Arkansas-Dayton in the other play-in game. Would be cool to see Dayton get a home play-in game, as long as it's not vs. the Gophers. I'd bet my bottom dollar the Selection Committee would do everything they could to avoid giving Dayton a home play-in game, even if it meant overseeding 'em.

What are the Gophers then?

The only time the gophers had a top 4 seed they made the final four. They were an 11 seed and made the sweet 16 and a 6 seed and made the elite 8. I would call that tournament over achieving. Their issue is making the tournament.

New bracketology today fresh off the great game last night. We jumped from a play-in game as a #12 seed to a #9 seed facing Justin Cobbs's Cal team in the South bracket where Kansas is the 1 seed. The big ten currently has 6 teams in according to Lunardi.

A 9 seed seems low to me. The Gophers currently have a pretty strong résumé that I think puts them around a 6-7 seed.

Agree. Hate to differ with Lunardi, but the Gophers would be way better than a 9-seed at this point. A 7 would be just about right.

Per Lunardi's tweet last night, I'm pretty sure he made his brackets late yesterday, not taking into account the Gophers win yet. That would explain why he'd put us as only a 9 seed. :)

Agreed, this must be the case - because Cal lost last night too, so if nothing else we should at least be flipped.

I'm hoping we can get a 7 seed and be in the same region as a #2 Wichita St! Sounds like an elite 8 run!!

Wichita st. is better than your giving them credit for, lets not forget they made it to final four last year and almost did knock off louisville. My goal is 5 or 6 seed that way we stay away from the top 2 seeds for as long as possible. I want nothing to do with a 7-10 ranking, rather be 11 or 12th

I am not going to hope for a certain seed. I thought we'd win 6 conference games this year. I'd be very happy with any sort of tournament bid. Even if it's an 8 or 9 seed.

I'm with you there. My goal before this season, considering the uncertainty, was to just be in the bubble conversation by the end of the year. Anything above that is gravy. Of course, now that we're getting all spoiled, a 10 seed seems like a disappointment!

Well, I don't see it changing between then and now, so you better get used to it!

Did I suggest it wouldn't? No matter, I still wouldn't be thrilled about playing either of those teams.

I think most would take that right now. You can't lose to a 1-5 team and be picky about it. Getting in will be a battle.
