I was pulling for the guy :*(
Thought that was an odd and over-the-top statement considering he was once convicted of a felony and spent time in jail.

Probably because Dubay has a 15+ year history in the media. He's spoke his opinions on Gopher sports many times. Gopher hockey has always been his passion, but he has shared his thoughts plenty of times on Gopher football.
It may be time for Jeff to become a Culligan man. Get a job. Get some normalcy. Buy season tickets for Gopher hockey. Go to an occasional game at TCF. Move on. Stay off the drugs. It's up to him, but he can get plenty of help. He just has to be a willing participant.
Even when he is clean, his temper is well known. He's a hot head and that gets jim in trouble.
I really liked listening to him and was hoping it would work out.
... its dealing with the perceived notions of others that makes it tough once you have settled your debt to society...
It's simple. An employer can require you to take a drug test. If you refuse, you have little recourse.
And if Dubay's report is correct, he had already taken action to abide by the employers wishes, and then Barnard changed his mind.
I'm not on anyone's side here, it's a he said/he said situation, and only one side has spoken out, and that appears to be the issue with so-severe.

Wonder if he regrets jumping on Souhan's side and banging the drum that Mason needed to be begged to take over because Kill wasn't healthy enough to do his job. Looks like personal problems may have cost Jeff another job.

Actually, it was Dubay's account of going to Walgreens for a test, but being offended the employer wanted a "more expensive" test that clinched it for me that he is using again. This day in age employers don't tell you you are fired unless you take a drug test without reason. His grasping for any lifeline only proves what the employer suspected/knew. 1500 dodged a bullet - they knew and got it off as "cost savings". I commented early in this thread that 1500 & Dubay said WAY TOO MANY TIMES in their releases that it was cost savings only. Folks thought I was speculating then and I guess I am again, but if it looks like a duck and quacks like a duck, it is a duck.
I was rooting for him too, but can virtually guarantee that in the next 6-months he will be in the news again for not very good reasons. I just hope they aren't tragic. Sad story. One that is all too common. Good Luck Jeff.
You're wrong, and you shouldn't be speculating about something you know nothing about.

01-22-2014, 03:37 PMI have never missed a minute of listening to Dubay. That is because I haver never listened to him.
Well Dubay is likely done in the Twin Cities market as he is becoming toxic.

Jeff Dubay: Broadcast career in peril after podcast firing, meltdown

Some people burn bridges. Other people don't just burn them. They blow them up like what happened in the final scene of "The Bridge on the River Kwai."
That's what Jeff Dubay did. He blew up his latest and perhaps last chance to have a broadcast career in the Twin Cities.
Dubay's most recent foray into media came to an ugly end Wednesday.
After several weeks of doing a podcast as part of the Tom Barnard Network, Dubay claimed in a Twitter post that the network's general manager, Sean Barnard, "acted in unprofessional manner pulling the plug on the Jeff Dubay podcast."
The tweet directed people to Dubay's Facebook page, which featured an ill-advised screed against Sean Barnard, who also is Tom Barnard's nephew. (Tom Barnard is the host of the KQ Morning Show and -- full disclosure here -- I have been a member of the KQ Morning Show with Tom for the past 25 years. Tom's podcast, The Tom Barnard Show, has no affiliation with KQRS. I also know Sean Barnard. He once worked at KQRS.)
Dubay's Facebook posts and the page itself were deleted about two hours after he attacked Sean Barnard. I read the attack before it was deleted. It was filled with rage toward Sean Barnard with Dubay depicting himself as a victim.
Here is an excerpt from the deleted Facebook post, without changes:
"Sean Barnard informed me today that he was terminating the agreement for me to be part of the Tom Barnard network. When pressed on the matter Sean said if I passed a drug test he would allow me to continue. This was as insulting as it was unw...arranted.Nonetheless I went to Walgreen's and purchased a test at my own expense, knowing I had nothing to hide. I returned home and phoned Sean to tell him I have met his demands and was ready to take the test and would wait for him if he wanted to witness it. He then went into a new set of conditions that included me going to a clinic and getting an expensive test at my own expense and missing my show on the evening of 4/18. A shouting match ensued as I now saw that I was being given a run around and the rules were changing all the time. Sean hung up and refused my calls, referring me to his attorney."
Later, Dubay tweeted that he needed help shutting down his Twitter page.
"Somebody help me," he tweeted. "I need to deactivate my account now and don't know how"
It was deactivated late Wednesday or early Thursday.
In a tweet before it was deactivated, Dubay wrote, "I've never felt more beaten in my entire life."
He also tweeted in response to a question about his Facebook page disappearing, "The lawyers threatened. Can't fight the machine"
In another tweet, he said, "Sean barnards lawyers have threatened me but the posts are the truth. Do your worst"
Just like with his Facebook screed, that was an ill-advised tweet.
Before starting the podcast, Dubay spent a year as the co-host of a midday radio show on KSTP's 1500 ESPN Twin Cities before being let go in January. He began his broadcast career with KFAN but was fired in 2008 -- after an arrest on suspicion of possessing crack cocaine. He later was convicted and spent time in jail.
I met Dubay a few times over the years and found him likable. Presumably, so did Sean Barnard -- for a while.
Dubay joined Sports Radio 105 the Ticket co-host Mike Morris and me on our 3-6 p.m. show for a day and did a nice job. Unfortunately, Dubay appears to have a tendency to be quick-tempered and knee-jerk. His attack of Sean Barnard was vicious and likely ruined any chance of Barnard being listed as a reference on Dubay's resume.
The podcast is done and so might be Dubay as a broadcast personality in the Twin Cities.
the guy should become independent. Start up a blog or forum. He usually has good takes and opinions, and enough people in the Twin Cities know who he is, where he would already have somewhat of a following. It will be pretty hard for him to break back into the main stream in the twin cities again though. A lot of burnt bridges. His connections I am guessing are dwindling exponentially, whether he was right or wrong on this most recent dismissal.
Dubay's side of the "social media" dispute.
"It just never ends when it comes to dealing with bad people. I posted here this morning an update to let people know that I'm fine and sober and doing the right things," Dubay wrote. "After receiving dozens of messages from people wishing me well and lending support, the entire thread was destroyed when Sean Barnard posted a string of lies worthy of a slander/libel suit.
"I'm no Facebook veteran so not blocking him previously was my rookie mistake," Dubay wrote, "and not knowing how to remove his post forced me to take it all down. This is what I deal with..
Barnard then returned fire on his Twitter page, saying that it was Dubay's treatment of his co-host that led to his termination.
"Jeff fired (Murphy) the morning we stopped our agreement for no real reason, and she didn't deserve that." Barnard wrote, adding that "Jeff lied about me on Facebook & Twitter."
Dubay denied Barnard's claim shortly thereafter on his Facebook page.
"Of course it's not true. He wanted to fire Di before I did," Dubay wrote. "Di was impossible to work with. She was rude and bossy and contributed very little to the program and sent inappropriate text messages to Sean. Him giving any other story about her dismissal is a lot."
Murphy, then, took to her Twitter page to fire back at Dubay.
"I stayed silent. Right up until he started talking (expletive) about me on Facebook. At some point, you have to stand up," Murphy wrote. "If everyone involved posted their texts, it would end him. Some of us are trying to just move on, but at the same time, you can't let someone blatantly lie about you and do nothing.".

The conspiracy side of me is getting the best of me: Could this "feud" be about garnering ratings? It seems way too childish and petty to be taken to this level.
You've got a point. Far more people have read or heard about those podcasts then before all this stuff. Morality aside, the big question is do you think any of the people involved are smart enough to think about doing it, let alone pull it off?
Pretty sad to see all of this happen to someone. Not sure how you go right to crack if you weren't already dabbling in some things. Hope the guy lands on his feet.
