Jamel Harbison did not make trip to Indiana, won't play vs Penn State

Sorry to hijack but what ever happened to AJ?

When he flipped out on Minnesota's now-inactive HC, Barker said he planned to play again right away. This article at LNH spelled out why there should be doubts as to that happening.

I don't know if that is how things played out (i.e., he and/or his new school(s) figured out that he would be out of luck.

I know people like to say Kill only brings in character guys, but maybe there is something special about the WR position. They seem like a different breed sometimes, even in the pros.

Harbison has three years to make an impact.
We all want recruits to be instant stars in their first or second years.
Recent examples like Hageman, Michael Carter, and Cobb should show us that players sometimes need a year or three to figure it out.

Honestly we've barely played any slot receiver the last few weeks anyway. I've said this elsewhere, but Goodger, Maxx, and Mike Henry are eating away a ton of playing time from KJ Maye and Harbison (even before this) because we almost never go 3-wide anymore.

We've played plenty of 3-wide lately, it's just been a combination of Engel, Freuchte, Jones, and Wolitarsky. KJ Maye every once in a while. We were in 11 personnel on 43% of plays against Indiana.

Not having WR's is not a big factor. Nelson doesnt throw a very good ball. He needs
to throw to backs and tight ends.

Nelson will throw a duck now and then but he's thrown a few balls on third down, etc these past few weeks that have been money. Jones and Wollitarsky are the future along with Williams and with them all getting a lot more PT and with Engel playing well, at least for three quarters of every game, there aren't enough plays to go around. Our passing game continues to come around and should take off in '14.

Your blog sucks. I can't believe that GH puts up with you (and deletes my OT Blog: 50 Shades of Kelly Leeks, specifically, Part I: an erotic encounter with Michelle Bachman). At least I'm a real Gopher fan.

Let's not start the "we cooled on Harbison" or the "we don't need him" trend. He has upside and we need all the talent we can get st WR. He may not have an impact this year, but he will help us in the next 3 years. Wishing him luck!

People had all but given up on three of our better players over the last couple seasons (Cobb, Hageman, Carter). It's still really early in Harbison's career and he appears to be a talented guy at a thin position, so we could sure use him.

Yep, we need him...at least to stop the trend of losing our receivers for mysterious reasons.

A little off topic here, but we seem to have the ying-yan action going here on GH.

GW represents the darkness, and Dr. Don the light. It all balances out in the end. We have to get irked by someone only to feel better afterwards by pearls of wisdom and saneness.

Hell man, this is the most entertaining board around! Take the good, the bad, and the ugly and don't take it too seriously. My blood pressure stays normal then.
