Love this!!
Jake Retzlaff, the quarterback for 18th-ranked BYU, signed a sponsorship deal with Manischewitz, the first NIL deal made by the Jewish food brand.
Retzlaff is the first Jewish quarterback to ever play for the Mormon university, as well as one of just three Jewish students currently attending the school, which enrolls nearly 33,000 undergraduates.
As part of the deal, Retzlaff will share his story in video content made by the brand. He’ll share some of his favorite recipes and holiday traditions as well as reflect on other cultural touchstones of the Jewish faith. Manischewitz will also create limited edition matzo boxes with Retzlaff’s likeness.
Financial details of the deal were not disclosed.
“I grew up with matzo with peanut butter as my favorite snack, and every Passover, my family and I made matzo pizza together,” Retzlaff said in a statement. “At Chanukah time our tradition was making potato latkes. Now, at BYU, I’m able to share these traditions with my teammates.”
