Isaiah Gentry Commits!!

Interesting post at GI by Rivals.Com Midwest Regional guy Josh Helmholdt. Says he watched all the top WR's in Ohio last year including Kief (Alabama commit) & Snodgrass (Kentucky commit) & Gentry is better than them all. Compares him to Penn St's Allen Robinson in terms of being a late bloomer & future potential. Says he didn't get big offers because he didn't blow up until his Sr year. I'd add he didn't have the grades/test score either until a couple weeks ago, which also probably limited interest in him.

Great to hear. Kudos to the staff for getting both Holland and Gentry but we also got pretty damn lucky these two slipped through the cracks.

Nice to see we will have five guys over 6'3 at the WR position to compliment Maxx Williams. Maye, Carter, and possibly Jones in the slot. Things are looking up for the this group and the QB's.

Yeah that really sucks! I tweeted at Shama that he should have let the kid announce his commitment, for gods sake it's one of the bigger decisions/moments in life taken away by an itchy trigger fingered reporter!

I agree its terrible. This kid has worked his butt off to get into this spot and he doesnt even get to be the one to tell everyone.

I'm excited about Gentry as well but let's slow our roll a little bit here. We just beat out Kent State for a kid. If that's all it takes to turn into a great team it'd be done a lot more often.

Becky beat out Kent St. for a recruit as well? Congrats!

And I believe Moeller is a big-time program in Ohio, correct? If so, I like that as well.

Gentry reminds me of a poor man's Randy Moss. Lot's of upside. I don't expect him to be an immediate impact player like Holland though as he's not as physically ready to block in the B1G. Give him a couple years.

While I agree with the bold, the same was probably said of D. Jones as well. He certainly did not look physically ready to block in the B1G Ten. Here's to hoping both Holland and Gentry will be BIG contributors here in the future! Welcome aboard!

and softly Nelson weeps.................

That was what I was thinking. What would you guys say if Phillip came back to Kill and asked to be reinstated???

(My turn to over analyze!!!)

and softly Nelson weeps.................

While we don't know all the goings on, has anyone addressed that Nelson could have been part of the problem? It certainly seems like no one is pining over his exit and we're getting some much needed recruiting momentum (sans Nelson).

Whether it's attitude or accuracy (or both), I have not heard much in the way of it being a negative.

McKinzy
Jones
Holland Jr
Gentry
Elmore
Mayes

That's a very nice core on the offensive side of the ball for this recruiting class. Looks even better if Ragnow committs.

I've read good things about Jerry Gibson as well. If he ends up on offense, I think he will be a threat as well.

Lets not forget Rodney Smith. He was very productive in HS.

Concern is at DB. I know we're recruiting a couple of more players at CB and S for this class but as of right now, the 2015 depth chart has only 3 scholarship players at CB and 3 scholarship players at Safety. Either we grab a couple of more in this class or we have to go balls-to-the-wall for JUCO DBs in the 2015 class.

CB: Murray, Myrick, and McGhee
S: Travis, A Johnson, and Montgomery

I think the question is where will Gibson play. I'm not sold it's at TE or H-Back. Those positions are stacked with non-seniors: Maxx, Plsek, Wozniak, Anyanwu, Elmore, Lingen, and even someone like Bisch.

I'd like to see Gibson at LB or DE. We have only 5 returning scholarship DEs after this year and LB while we have alot of depth at LB right now, there isn't the high-end talent there that other positions on the team seem to have.

Pretty sure Gentry only had to be flipped from Kent State because his grades weren't in order until fairly recently which would've kept schools away.

It's amazing what we know about their grades when confidentiality comes into play.

I'll disagree with you. There was no "slipping". This is hard work. This is recruiting.

Congratulations Mr Gentry.

Welcome Mr. Gentry and his family to the Gopher football family. SKI-U-Mah and Go Gophers.

Maybe the people who have been worried that the Gophers won't be able to throw the ball next year can relax a little. Two Wide Outs with other options committing to the Gophers don't seem worried about it.

I am. Been a long time since I've seen a Gopher qb that could complete passes consistently. QB play will be THE QUESTION next year. Sorry to be negative but someone has to say it.

No problem. Can't understand it myself.

+ A Bunch

This is the first time in a long while that we've had a coaching staff which covers all the bases: Need, Skill, Academics and Character.

I see the cocktail hour started a little early today. Personally, I going to wait until National Signing Day to start drinking. To put this in proper perspective you have a better chance of sleeping with Jessica Alba than this happening.

Dr.Don - I have always respected confidentiality when it comes to grades. That is why I never talk about mine.

And here I thought it was just 20-years of blind luck that has gotten Kill this far. ;-)

Welcome Mr. Gentry! What a great get for our program!!

Ski-U-Mah and Go Gophers!
