For what it's worth, I've got a source (I know, this is getting tired, but it's true) that tells me that other programs have contacted Shaka, and been told that he's not interested because he's going to Minnesota. Take it for what it's worth, which, considering nobody knows me, is admittedly not much.

Time will tell if this has any meat to it. If there is any meat to it, I am ordering a 24 ounce porterhouse.

This is interesting if true. I hope your source is right as it'd be a monumental splash.

I know you'll get heat, but honestly, this is what makes Gopherhole great to me. People just sharing what they've heard about stuff from people who may or may not be in the know. You won't get that kind of stuff anywhere else.

Really though, this sounds completely believable to me.

Your username looks familiar. Did you use it elsewhere?

Would love for that to be true, but I won't believe it until I see Teague and Smart hugging at a press conference. Hope your source is correct.

I've heard a concurring whisper.

I want to believe you but this kind of stuff (good news) doesn't happen in MN very often. Hopefully we can all pop some champagne in a few days.

As long as what they are sharing has actually been heard by the poster from someone who really does know any tidbit, and not a bunch of smart asses blowing smoke out of their asses.

True or not, my heart just jumped. That would be something.

I have a hard time buying this because first of all, Shaka would never be so dumb to tell anybody he's going to Minnesota.

Folks don't believe this kinda trash. Coaches don't tip their hand to other schools.

Your source sounds about as connected as Sir Sidney was when he said Tubby would not be fired.

Well if that's the then Teague the weasel would have fired Tubby even if he won the NCAA.

Thanks for the post. I think its interesting how quickly everyone is to hammer someone who may have some knowledge of the situation. I think you have to question anything on a messsage board but its the internet. Not shocked by anything at this points. I dont see the Gophers paying Tubby Smith $2.5 million to leave and not knowing who they are going to get to replace him.

Trust me, I wouldn't buy it if I didn't trust the person I heard it from. And he wouldn't tell just anybody, but he potentially would tell other programs who were contacting him to gauge his interest in going there. Anyway, believe it or not. I do.

Why wouldn't he just say I'm not interested because I'm staying at VCU?

Unfortunately, no matter how true and legit your source and the info may be, nobody on these boards will ever really believe one of these posts because of all of the stupid fake posts that have been made in the past. I want to believe it, but I just can't. It would be awesome, though.

We've already had one random guy break news today a few hours before everyone else. It wouldn't surprise me if we got another guy to come through.

No idea. Like I said, feel free not to believe it. I probably wouldn't if I were on the other side of this thing. Hey, I didn't really buy the report from earlier this morning that he'd be fired. I'm just letting you know what I heard. Hopefully, people on here know that I don't have a history of posting this sort of stuff. I've had some insider info on some other things connected to the program, and didn't feel comfortable posting it. In this case, though, it's information from another program, so I feel okay posting it. Like I said, believe it or don't, it's up to you.

You do if it's a done deal. It's way different, but I've worked in agency law with consultants and when we verbally agree on a deal, we often tip our hand. If Shaka is the man and he already knows it, they are likely waiting to announce his departure out of respect for Smith. It's like moving in your new GF the second your wife leaves. If Shaka is the man, the deal is done and they will announce it tomorrow or the next day.

I'm not saying that is what is happening, but if Shaka had decided on MN, he would tip his hand. The hand is over, no need to muck.

Thanks for putting it out there, would be beyond good news if true.

Keep dreaming. Shaka is deciding between UCLA and MN? His last name is Smart right? It is like Dr. Don giving the choice of 24 ounce prterhouse or Macrib. Which one do you think he will select?

Well Shaka would have had to have the gophs job in the bag before the Gophs lost to Fla. So if you source is right Tubby would have been canned even if we beat Florida... So the weasel Teague was hoping for the gophs to lose in order to make canning Tubby easier
