like the NIT run of 11-12 and makes it to at least the Elite Eight, will Tubby get some serious offers to be hired away by other schools?

Tubby's name is often brought up in off season rumor circles, and a deep run in the tourney could push his stock higher.

I'm starting to wonder if Teague would just let Tubby walk away if the alternative would be giving Tubby a hefty pay bump to match a bigger offer. I don't think its crazy to consider especially if Tubby feels that he would have a lot more slack somewhere else.

I'm inclined to think a deep run and Tubby leaving voluntarily for another job could be the best thing for all involved.

Who is going to offer a coach into his sixties even what he is making now to start over at a new school. He is to old to be seriously considered for another high caliber job IMO. Though I am sure his agents would love people to believe he is in high demand.

I just hope we don't target the overrated Shaka Smart if Tubby leaves, that guy would never work in the B1G.

If he gets to an elite 8 I keep him just because I think our chances with the 2014 class go up dramatically with a deep run and retaining Tubby.

I match 3 million if he makes the final 8. People here will be licking his nuts if he gets that far, dont kid yourself.

I've said it before, but this team is extremely streaky. I would love to see them go on a massive streak and get to at least the Sweet 16. However, being streaky, this team could easily be one and done as well.

I also agree that a deeper run would be a great means of having another school try to lure Tubby away...and it would be in the best long-term interest of the University to let that other school reel him in.

My perfect ending to this season would be a deep run in the tourney and Tubby announcing that he's moved on to some place else.

Let's worry about beating Nebraska in Lincoln to assure a tourney slot before we start talking about a pay raise for Tubby.

Crazy.

My perfect ending to this season would be a deep run in the tourney and you move to Wisconsin.

This whole logic of "I hope Tubby succeeds because that gives us the best chance of not having Tubby next year" seems kind of contradictory. You want him to do well...so that he won't be here. I saw the same thing in another thread, one poster was hoping that we would make the Final Four so that another school would take Tubby off our hands. Saying that makes it seem not so much that you don't like Tubby's results as much as you just don't like Tubby, and that any success we have is in spite of him and not because of him.

"I hope we go to the Final Four so that we can get rid of the coach who got us to the Final Four." Weird.

Even if we were able to get to the Final Four (highly unlikely), the fact is that Tubby has never finished higher than 6th place in the B1G and if we are lucky we might end up in 5th this year. The long-term development of Gopher basketball would seem to be with a different coach who could win a B1G championship.

If this team is in the Final Four, I don't give a flying rat's arse where we finished in the B1G standings. I think it is a Catch 22 situation, where if Tubby puts together a tournament run that makes other schools want him, then I want him back.

I don't think it's mathematically possible to get 5th this year.

They're on a roll right now, so who gives a *&^!#*&^!#*&^!#*&^!#? Enjoy the season.

you need to enjoy the season and quit worrying about the coach.

Exactly. If we got on a magic run to the final four, any folks that still want tubby gone have other issues.

Should be interesting. I can see us losing in first round or going all the way to final four. One thing is certain. It's nice not worrying about whether we will be a tournament team. Can't say I've felt like that in at least 14 years.

I really like Tubby, but I don't think he is the long term solution, whether they miss the tourney or win it all.

Define long term? If Tubby gets to the sweet 16 and can bring in good recruiting classes in 14' and 15' combine with the guys who will be here next year and freshman coming in, I think Tubby and co will be just fine for the next five years

We've won two games in a row and now we're back with Final Four talk again. WTF

In the tournament, two wins means you're halfway there. :)

Besides, it doesn't seem so much about the Elite Eight/Final Four as much as hoping Tubby is gone after this season.
