If PJ Fleck can be moderately successful here, why can’t a basketball coach?

We all know why BJ was hired. Was he qualified to be a B1G head coach - no. But the Administration at the U told Coyle hire him. What was the poor guy to do?

I thought Ben was worth the risk when he was hired. Under the old rules, I think he might have had a chance to build something. Unfortunately for him, a revolution has taken place and his boss still acts like its 2019. Coyle's "We have to do things the right way" mantra plays very thin. The only way to succeed is to raise a boatload of money first and the players will find their way to your program. Absent that, the next coach will have the same results as Ben.

I agree and here is the kicker. The way to build it the old way was the same. Thus the reason the U never did anything. Every other power 5 school paid their players then and continue to do so now.

You want to win at a high level in the revenue sports in Division 1 college athletics, you flat out have to embrace the sleaze. Sad, but that is what is was before and that is what it most definitely is now.

Amazing how these unfounded conspiracy theories live on … Please also tell us that climate change is a hoax, vaccines cause autism, and that trump won the 2020 election. Reassuring to believe in something.

Please tell us that Trump colluded with Russia, there were Pee Tapes, that Trump had a server connected to Russia. Insane.

Climate change is not a hoax the climate is always changing throughout history. What is a hoax is the attempted change in the world economies and governance with the claim that our measures will "stop it". Insane. We just saw the Democrats telling us in broad daylight in Philadelphia that they were cheating and you still don't believe that they steal elections. Insane. Do vaccines cause autism? I don't know- but I do know that we are pumping little children full of far, far too many of them (about 50) in order to benefit big Pharma.

Now back to basketball: We all actually do know that Ben was hired because of pressures from the top at the U. They told us so.

We excel at sports the very few care about because there isn't much money needed to be invested in it. Where there is big money, other schools get serious about it.

For some reason, perhaps your own comfort, you’d like to believe that I am a conspiracy theorist, just that the conspiracies I espouse are different. I happen to be an advocate of facts. Believe what you want, vote for who you choose. It’s a free country (so far).

I'm not even saying we can't count it. It's just the more recent seasons are a better representation of where the program currently is.

Basketball and football conference records aren’t a great comparison imo. Fleck plays against a shitty BTN west. Both did/doing just enough to keep their jobs for 8-9 years.

Well it appears you might be clinging to a couple of conspiracy theories from your first post, but I like the way you closed the post. I also go for the facts. Our freedom might have just been saved a week plus ago!
