I hope I am wrong but don't think we can stop Wisconsin's run game

Yeah Nelson has just been sitting back there and running the ball we have not had any kind of passing game lately even though we are second in pass efficiency the last 4 games in the conference. We are at about the same level of time of possession this season as the Badgers 34 minutes average to 35 minutes for them.
Gophers can move the football with multiple weapons. I keep hearing from Badger fans that the Gophers are a lesser team on Saturday, we shall see. We have one common opponent Iowa, and our loss was not a blowout like others seem to think. Our QB Nelson was coming off hamstring injury and was off the whole game. He missed three wide open receivers that would have been touch downs. It is not like Iowa rammed the ball down our throats we were in that game the first Big test of the year until the fourth quarter and our defense did a pretty good job of adjusting at halftime and putting up stops. Our Guys were able to hold and force punts and field goals. I see your team is good but I belive our team is up to the challenge and we are getting slighted.
Actually we have 2 common opponents (IU is the second and we know how that went. (51-3 vs 42-39). So far the point differential in the common opponent games UW is +62 to MN

You're also forgetting the biggest point about the Iowa games. Wisconsin played that game IN Iowa, whereas MN had them at home

Your right we were on a bye this week and I did not get a chance to see them against Indiana as I did not watch that game. Watched the BYU game, impressed with the Badger D, not so much the offense. There are things about your offense that we do just as well to better. The odds makers may be right but I like our guys chances. This Gopher team is a very improved bunch and does not get knocked out of football games easily anymore. And Yes we are at home so I like our chances to not only run the ball but throw it.

You mean the offense with the second most 50+ yard plays in the country behind Baylor? Oh and leads the nation in yards per carry?
Again of course it's entirely possible that MN comes out and plays a great game, even possibly upsets UW. They're at home after all. I just don't think it's very likely

We have every right as Gopher fans to feel our team can win the Axe... Gophers have improved a lot as the season has wore on and it is no FLUKE.

I love your confidence! I think we'll give 'em a tussle.

Your right in that they can be an explosive offense, my point isn't to downgrade them

My point about not being impressed is, it is simply no secret what Wisconsin try's to do on offense up front (heck we even mimic it and try to use some of the same techniques), and to me that somewhat plays in to the strength of the Gopher defense. We disrupt gaps well. stay disciplined on the cut back side and run to the football well. Our linebackers can actually close well and do not have feet set in stone.
Wisconsin likes to pull the center Lewallen and there right guard Costigan a lot and try and create gap mismatches especially to the 3 and 4 gaps on counters stretch plays to the left side(they like to pull the center outside of the left tackle and seal very well). They then try to overwhelm your linebackers with the Fullback Derrick Watt or Pederson the tight end off motion and even catch you with some play action passes to those guys. Defend the cutback, and disrupt the pulling action of the right guard or the center and shut them off before they can get that motion going. Then they run the jet sweep to Aberderis the right side because Havenstein gets a good seal down block, and again you have Watt and Pederson free to clean up and take on linebackers and Safety's. Gophers have some good front defensive tackles in Botticelli and Roland Johnson and Rashede Hagemen and Hank Epke, we do not have the wet toilet paper defensive front that Indiana had. I think our defensive tackles can be disruptive and muck up this motion offense. The key is to not let the 50 + yard play happen, we have been better this year than most at containing the explosive play. We do not have to bring up 8 to 9 guys to the line and get burnt deep. Our defensive front is a good front and I like our chances to be competitive.

To me what we are good at, we can execute on offense, we are good at the stick routes and the drag routes to the tight ends in the middle of the field a weakness of the Wisconsin offense is you can isolate your tight ends on there linebackers and make plays in the middle of the field with quickness the likes of which Max Williams has. We are good at the middles screen to the running backs and disquise it well.
The pick plays that everyone use to use against us we are now good at executing and can run the jet sweep as well as they can.
We have two mobile quarterbacks that can be mismatches when they get a good zone read and keep the ball and can be good on the opposite boot action off play action. Nelson has improved a ton in the last four games and we have an advantage at the QB position in the creative plays we can execute. Any time your better than the opposition at Quarterback I like our chances. Wisconsin fans doubt we can hang, I don't blame them after the last how many years but this game on Saturday is going to be a slugfest and again I like the Gophers chances. If I'm wrong I'm wrong but I don't think I am.

GopherDuder, I am with you. I am expecting big games from the defense and I hope our offense can take a little pressure off them by scoring points on 2 or 3 of their first 4 possessions.

I like the thought of Hageman lined up over a pulling lineman. His quickness will make it a tough down block. Get on the pullers hip and follow him to the ball carrier.

This is doable, with Hageman if he sees it and doesn't take himsef out with overpursuit, Roland Johnson or Botticelli he has the quickness to challenge the pulling lineman at the hip. You force this action and defend the cutback and you can stop this front. I like our defensive front, keep them in front of you and do not allow the back a crease or a crack back, this is possible. Get your hands up and do not be sucked in by the screen, we have to be relentless in staying home and defeating blocks this Saturday. Do that and things all star to fall in to place. That and I think we can attack the middle of the Wisconsin defense, I'm not saying that because they are bad, B Allen up front is strong and hard to move off the block and obviously Borland has great pursuit, what I mean is you can isolate the linebackers with some good tight end plays and make them run. Even a throw back screen off the Jet sweep action to the tight end or fullback. I would also bring some good old fashioned full back dives and some option pitches from the scat back to the trailing tailback off jet sweep motion, but I'm goofy like that.

"...This Wisconsin Offensive line is not near as talented or as good as past groups..."

Facts STRONGLY suggest otherwise. Depth might be missing relative to some of those past groups but, were you correct, it would be a case of splitting hairs. That line is really good.

In years past, it seemed Montee Ball pretty much jogged into the end zone. The Badger's linemen got to the second level so well, there simply was no one left to hit him. I'm not seeing that this year. Instead, I'm seeing the running backs making a lot more yards on their own. And I mean a lot...

So, I do agree that the Badgers offensive line is not as good. But does it matter?
