How many people jump out of the boat now?

For the record, our two home games in November were sellouts...one with good weather and the other practically December. And not just sellouts on paper, real persons occupying those spaces.

Whether in the boat permanently or out this is proof that the right product and right circumstances will bring butts to the seats...even the expensive ones...and even under adverse weather conditions.

Really proud of those in attendance today...whatever their motivation.

Progress.

First 10-win regular season in my and many others’ lifetimes. If you were even a casual fan before the season, I can’t imagine being turned off by the results. Very positive season overall.

Your Gophs are 9 and 3, loaded with young talent, and a coach in his third year at the helm. In Barry Alvarez's third year at UW the Badgers were 5 and 6. In his fourth year they won the Rose Bowl. I really believe you've got a lot of good times coming up in future autumns in Minnesota....
Now go out and make the Western Division proud by winning your bowl game.....and go to the game. There a helluva lot of fun.
And, oh.....I'm not really looking forward to playing the Buckeyes for the second time this season.

We are 10-2. If people can't enjoy that, they shouldn't be sports fans. Same for the people that didn't enjoy last year's Twins team.
Yes. Minnesota will finish with the same or better regular season record than Alabama, Florida, PSU, ND, Oregon, Auburn, and a plethora of other helmet teams. Get an impressive bowl win and perhaps finish in the top 10. Successful season by many measures. I know my GH brethren are still in the boat...I hope a bunch of others stay as well!

Most people alive have never witnessed the Gophers win a Big 10 title or a division title. This program has decades of poor performance to make up for before it has a strong fan base that sticks with it through thick and thin. Because of this season’s cupcake schedule, this should’ve been our chance to start to build this fan base. Instead, many Minnesotans and recruits watched today’s game and thought “Same old gophers.” Hard to argue that they’re wrong.
Easy to argue....Same old Gophers? No, we won 10 games, 7 big ten games.....that has never been done before by this team - nothing the same, it’s very different, it’s exciting. It’s not a fluke either.....and that’s exciting.

Team was literally a few plays away from winning the west outright (at Iowa).

Plenty of reason for optimism for 2020. The offense is the strength of the team and should be trending better in the trenches, working in the talent at TE. The defense will be breaking in a lot of new but necessary talent. Not going to jump out because of a couple off games, one of which that could have gone either way.

Say most fans "leave" again, but perhaps we gain more for the game environment.
Our important early games will likely be better turnouts (WI in October). That will be better.

Keep in mind, this year was supposed to be a 6 team race of good teams. Turns out it seems like it was WI, MN, and Iowa, then 4 weaker teams.

If you wait until game 7 to start watching next year you maybe missed the three most important games.
That's good for those who aren't leaving, bad for those who are leaving.

Agreed but I note those November teams will likely be much better some year too...maybe starting next year...?

Who said it does not sting? Nobody. Some will go all whinney, some will say we will get them next year or the year after that. Row the boat does not include whinning.

Likely yes. One of these 5 have to have a better year next year than this year. If not, coaches will be fired.

Great game. Better team won today. Stadium atmosphere was all we could ask for.

So you want to beat Iowa and Wisconsin and you're okay with losing to Maryland and Nebraska instead?
Or did you have two other teams you would feel better about?

If I'm going to lose 2 games, these would probably be the two, and the timing over the PSU win was important.
What two games this season did you want to lose instead?
Last year, we lost to Illinois but beat WI. Yes, I'd prefer that combo rather than the other way around. It doesn't mean that I'm not excited for the future. I am. I'm 100% in with Fleck and where the program is going. But dammit, WI and IA matter---ESPECIALLY WI. Don't ask fans to be cool with winning seasons that include losses to those teams. Not gonna happen.

The hardcore fans will stay on the boat and keep rowing. I wish there were more of us, but diehard Gopher football fans are among the best in sports anywhere because we keep hope alive and support the team even when times have been tough or the definition of success is just getting bowl eligibility. Plenty of bandwagon fans will walk away now. Greater success that happens more often is the best way to convert casual fans to diehards. In the meantime I’ll take exception with anyone this week that tries to dismiss the season as a failure or rips on the team as “the same old Gophers” and so on. The 2019 team is something special and hopefully is the first of many outstanding Gopher football teams to come.

Unfortunately, I think it's a lot. It's just the way it is with MN. Don't expect tons of excitement around the program unless we get back to 5-0 or 6-0 next season.
