Homecoming Game Announced

Hope it goes better than the stripeout hoco game against Purdue a couple years back. At least I think that was homecoming that year.

I'm 64. HOCO is not a word, no matter what the "urban dictionary" says....

Early/mid 40s here. Oldest kid is a high schooler...DEFINITELY heard HOCO before and cringed when I first heard it. I've resigned myself to the fact that if I battle youth slang I'm just accelerating the "get off my lawn" aging process.

It's a portmanteau, or a combination of two words to make a new word.

Examples:
Breakfast + Lunch = Brunch
Smoke + Fog = Smog
Motor + Hotel = Motel
etc.

It's a perfectly cromulent word.

I like to try using the new slang myself around my kids and, in extreme cases, their friends. From my experience that usually put an end to it, at least in my presence.

put me on the list of never knowing "HoCo" was a thing before now.

but at 69, I am not in touch with what the youngsters are into today.

and now, from "Bye-Bye, Birdie:

Kids!
I don't know what's wrong with these kids today!
Kids!
Who can understand anything they say?
Kids!
They are disobedient, disrespectful oafs!
Noisy, crazy, sloppy, lazy, loafers!
While we're on the subject:
Kids!
You can talk and talk till your face is blue!
Kids!
But they still just do what they want to do!
Why can't they be like we were
Perfect in every way?
What's the matter with kids today?

Every tagboard sign Homecoming Date request my daughter (HS grad 2022) ever received had the word "Hoco" on it.

Kids are getting dates with signs that say HOCO on them? Or signs that say anything on them?

Do i need to change my approach with the (18+) ladies to magic markers and poster board? Maybe some construction paper in the club?
