I don't think he has, but he's listed as the backup right guard on the depth chart for the Northwestern game. Just a byproduct of Bush's injury.

No, and he's already been on the depth chart previously. I think it's a way to reward his hard work and to show that he'd probably be starting if he weren't redshirting this year.

Thanks.

What does next years o line look like in your opinion?

* A respected poster at GI said that C/G Jon Christenson had the same injury that left Zach Mottla with a permanent limp & that some people inside the program were surprised he came back at all. Also rumored that Foster Bush has suffered a severe concussion & we know how those can go (Jimmy Gjere, Brooks Michel, Caleb Bak).

My unsolicited opinion is: (Best case scenario)

LT- Ben Lauer r-Jr (Campion r-Sr)
LG- Bjorklund r-Sr (Hayes r-Jr)
C- Christenson r-Sr (Bobek r-Sr)
RG- Campion r-Sr (Bush r-Sr)
RT- Pirsig r-Jr (Campion r-Sr)

Worst case scenario:

LT- Ben Lauer r-Jr (Campion r-Sr)
LG- Bjorklund r-Sr (Hayes r-Jr)
C- Bobek r-Sr (C Mayes r-Fr or Hayes r-Jr?)
RG- Campion r-Sr (C Mayes r-Fr)
RT- Pirsig r-Jr (Campion r-Sr)

All upperclassmen starters? Blasphemy!!! Just kidding, would sure be nice if that was the case!

Love it. It would really suck though to lose both Christenson & Bush, the year after losing Bak.

Which Mayes boy has the bum shoulder? I take from the depth chart it must be Alex but for some reason thought I saw a quote a couple weeks ago from Kill that it was Connor.

I thought Hayes was going to be our Staring Guard when we signed him. What's happened? Is our depth just really that good or has his development been stunted?

Alex has the shoulder issue.

yep he just got in and was beat for a sack.

Hopefully he gets snaps as I'd hate to waste a year

He has been in...but I would call that playing. Got beat like a red headed step child at a church picnic.

I honestly don't get it. Apparently Joe Bjorklund isn't healthy, but is Isaac Hayes that bad where you need to burn a redshirt in the 6th game of the season? And to put him out there in his first college football action during a critical drive with good field position....it baffles me. That sack killed the drive.

+1. Hayes was such a dominant HS player. I was positive he'd make an early impact. He's still really young fortunately, but strange burn of a redshirt today.

The thought (however fleeting) that crossed my mind is that he's already thinking about transferring (homesick?) and will use his redshirt during his transfer year. I hope it's not the case, but it's the only thing that makes sense.

Or it just could be that he's a true freshman and has just gotten much better to where they feel he should be playing right away. Maybe he just wants to be a senior with his brother?

Not so sure. Pretty sure his parents travel to the games. I was lucky enough to meet them at Michigan.

One thing - Kill will not hesitate to pull a redshirt when it is absolutely necessary.

Mr Mayes, aka 'All American Dad', frequently posts at GI & many posters have met the family as they travel to a lot of games. Dad says the boys love Minnesota & when they make a commitment they honor it. Posters who have met them say it's hard to fathom either ever transferring as the family is "all-in".

May be done for good. Rumored to have a suffered a severe concussion. Jimmy Gjere, Brooks Michel & Caleb Bak all suffered sever concussions & never came back.

How common is it for offensive linemen to get concussions? Losing Bak is bad enough, noe possibly Bush.

So he played today, according to Ray Hitchcock? I didn't see him go in... for Bjorklund? So, why not Hayes?

Bobeck had his knee looked at too, didn't see that play he was in either? Was that a ST play?

Stupid post.

Stupid post.

+1

I'm sure Connor will realize shortly that he suddenly has a chance to be apart of something potentially very special down the stretch here as the games get more critical (and more exciting).

His first play, he got beat bad. He will be ok, as nothing breeds success quicker than first experiencing failure as a motivating factor.

Heard Bobek & Plsek got dinged up. Nothing serious though.
